surprisingly modern. Prices of incidentals seemed expensive compared to other hostels but the friendliness of the staff (Dana in particular) made up for it. Not an incredibly social hostel, most people kept to themselves. Location was awesome for getting to the shops/sights but terrible when trying to get back as no taxis could find the place, even with the directions on the hostel business card. Nice beds, 8-bed dorm could use some sort of divider between the bathroom and the bedroom.. Leakage problem in the 12-bed dorm, and kind of cold. This was my second stay at Peking Int'l Youth Hostel and it was just perfect. The "homey" character and high level of service by the staff made it the perfect choice for our 4 day trip to Beijing with friends from the US. I have been telling everyone about it! I’m completing an internship in a village about an hour away from Beijing and travel to the city once a week- Peking Int’l Youth Hostel is my favorite and I return almost every week… if they have space available! The staff are always smiling and willing to help out, the common room is relaxing, the beds are clean and comfortable, as are bathrooms. The location of the hostel is a bit difficult to find but once you find it, simple.
