After climbing a lot of stairs, my boyfriend and I were greeted by an old Portuguese gent who was unaware of our booking. He had no computer and didn't speak any English, but from his gestures it was clear he didn't want us to share a bed (lots of religious images around) and tried to give us a more expensive room with 2 beds. The decor is really old and musty, with no atmosphere, no kitchen facilities and no communal area. I would only recommend Pensao Galicia to someone i didn't like much!

Awesome location right in the middle of thing. Staff were super friendly and spoke pretty english. Great place if your on a budget

Supplying a fan for the rooms would help a lot. I had a lot of trouble sleeping because the area - and sometimes hostel - was so loud, but if I closed the windows and blinds to keep the noise out then it was too hot to sleep because no fan was provided. A better pillow would help too.

We spent 4 nights at Pensao Galicia and we feel very grateful! The room was super nice, though small, it was comfortable with a small balcony you can seat in and have some fresh air. The location is great, very close to the metro station Baixa-Chiado. It's a 4th floor by stairs, which is ok if you can do it. The staff is so lovely and so kind that you feel like you're staying at your uncle and aunt's. There was room service everyday and everything was super clean. We totally recommend it.

very central location ! close the underground , a couple of old people keep this place very clean. very good wifi.
