Great hostel in an awesome location. Staff were very nice and helpful. Loved the garden area, breakfast and overall atmosphere. Great place to chill

The hostel was in a location in walking distance to the historical city center. Shops and restaurants for daily needs also were very close by. The hostel itself is a nice old building, also pretty big. Also it has good wifi what many hostels don't have. Somehow I was missing an athmosphere in the hostel and the reception staff also seemed to be somehow bothered if you went and asked something. facilities itself were in good and clean shape but the bathroom bins were full all time -> bad smell

Great atmosphere at this hostel! Nigel did a great job in the kitchen and the breakfasts were the best I've ever had at any hostel. Can't believe it's included in the price. Well worth the value to stay here and the location in perfect, two blocks from main square. Would Highly recommend Puerto Viaje!

Spacious, characterful building but not adequate for cold mountain weather. Bed booked was not available until 5.5 hours after I arrived. Excellent breakfasts and evening meals. My laptop charger was lost within the hostel causing a big problem.

While staying at this hostel we experienced a touch of home because the atmosphere was extremely welcoming. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay memorable and enjoyable. The new bar and fire place adds a 5 star hotel feel that we had never experienced at hostels before. The food cooked by THE BEST CHEF IN SAN CRISTOBAL (Nigel) was with out a doubt some of the best we have had in Mexico and very cheap! The hostel was full (75) each night and noise was never an issue.A MUST STAY HOSTEL!

The hostel is in a great location. The free breakfast is very good, and there's a different event on every night, such as free cocktails, dinners, etc. The dorms rooms are very cold even during the day and warmer blankets should be provided. Luckily there's always hot water in the showers to warm you up. The lockers in the dorm rooms are big enough to store a large backpack. The kitchen could have some better utensils available for guests to use. Overall a very pleasant place to stay.

Great location, amazing breakfast, good vibe at night, cool bar, do yourself a favour & make sure u eat Nigels home cooked meals they are great quality and delicious, he cooks most nights. Showers are warm, nice hammock area, dorms are pretty cramped and some lockers are outside the room, plenty of blankets for the cold. Only downfall were the staff or volunteers the place is run by- they were very tight within their group, lacked enthusiasm to help guests without being asked. Cool place though.

Young staff was sometimes so busy beeing cool (at the reception) that they forgot that they are working.

There were MANY bedbugs. I was bite everywhere from face, neck to all four limbs. Very very inching and I was quite angry to know that the staff knew there are bedbugs in the bed that I chose but they did not say anything until I got bite. After that, they were trying to tell me that they are mosquitos until I saw a doctor and I went back with the report of the doctor, they finally admitted that there are many bedbugs in the bed I stayed....I feel cheated...I won't recommend anyone to go....

Great location in el centro histórico - close to everything without being in the middle of it all. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable bed. Cool staff, especially Fernando - the morning guy.

I had an AMAZING time over there, definitely has the BEST location in town! super close to the main plaza & they also offer you a delicious breakfast (2 different options per day); the room was very spacious & in the ground floor so we didn´t have to handle luggage upstairs. Fernando, was super nice even before meeting, he helped me with all we needed :)
