Casa Azabache

In a colonial neighbourhood, we are 5 minutes walking from the central square and a three blocks from the main pedestrian street (Real de Guadalupe), where you can find the best restaurants, bars and leisure areas. We are a quiet, clean and safe hostel where you will be able to rest and meet interesting people enjoying a fresh and peaceful atmosphere.

The building where Casa Azabache lies is a traditional house from the 19th century. It preserves its original architectural style: facade finished by parapet, interior courtyards, corridors and an eave arranged in the form of L, supported by wooden columns. Private rooms are built around the porch.

At Casa Azabache, most of the adobe walls, up to 60 cm wide, are still standing, as are the wooden structures, the two-story ceilings with mud tiles, and a "tapanco" built with wooden beams.

Casa Azabache has 5 rooms with private bathroom, 2 rooms with shared bathroom, shared dormitory with 6 single beds, spacious and bright kitchen fully equipped, orchard and an open courtyards that invites to rest where to breathe the fresh and fresh air of this wonderful city .

Its creators knew how to customize the different spaces that make up the Inn combining in harmony a contemporary style with Mexican colonial architecture.

As in all families, Kitchen is the nerve center of Casa Azabache. Spacious and bright is the heart of the house, a meeting place where travelers share stories sharing something to drink. Among the harmonic furniture of exclusive design, stands a vertical garden with indoor plants that gives it freshness and favors the environment. Completely equipped and with part of the glass roof make of this environment a peaceful place.
The Courtyard retains its original colonial architectural style. L shaped wing, supported by wooden columns, on which hammocks rest, offering comfort and rest. The private rooms are developed around the portico and a small garden with native plants and aromatic subtly adorn the pure and fresh atmosphere of the area.

The neighborhood of Santa Lucia is located within the perimeter of protection of the historic center, 5 minutes walk from the central square and a few meters from the main pedestrian Real de Guadalupe, where you will find the best restaurants, bars and leisure areas. From here you can visit on foot all the museums and main markets of San Cristóbal de las Casas.

Originally this neighborhood was a craft center par excellence and seat of builders. This district is dedicated to the elaboration of rockets and toritos. Now there is a market of artisans in this neighborhood where you can find a great variety of traditional candies and sweets of the city, some elaborated by the people of this zone.
