There's a nice restaurant / bar area for meeting people. Directions should state that one should look for the Old Church Lounge sign as that is easier to see from the street than the actual hostel sign, especially at night. Good map available to use with the easy bus system. Easy walk to pier and beach area.

We loved this hostel, the price was great! 25 yuan for a dorm bed is the cheapest I've seen in China and it was a nice hostel too. They have us coupons for free beer the first night and then 2 free mixed drinks for the second, which was great. The only thing we didn't like was the internet. They advertise wifi on every floor but it was hard to connect to, and unavailable on our floor. Also, they didn't have skype installed on their computers, making mothers day more difficult.

The hostel is located at a very convenient location, with the major sights, Zhan Qiao, Protestant Church and Governor's Mansion within walking distance. The hostel room, while slightly old, is kept clean and neat.

Decided to take a last-minute trip to Qingdao, and the staff at the front desk was extremely pleasant and accommodating even though I had to switch beds a couple of times. Excellent location, and again, I cannot praise the staff enough. Clean and perfectly pleasant renovated church building.

We like staying at Kaiyue Hostel. We thought the staff was friendly and accommodating. If they didn't know an answer to our question, they looked it up right away and told us as soon as possible. We were disappointed, however, that even though they advertise a dumpling making party every Thursday night on their website and on hostelworld's website, they said that they weren't going to do it when we were there. They said that there weren't enough people interested, but we really wanted to do it.

I really liked to stay there! The people there are very friendly and helpful. The showers are spacious and clean, the rooms are very big and have the lockers inside. Although it is a big building, the place still feels personal. There is a nice bar within the hostel where you can hang out, play pool, table soccer, darts... The hostel has a very cozy atmosphere, I would certainly stay there again! Highly recommended!!!

Great location to catch buses around town, and the 8 person dorm is really spacious. The rooms were often unlocked, which was fine with me but may bother others. The bar area is also large and pretty happening on the weekends!

Honestly... great value... rooms are decent, bar downstairs is good. There is no hot water though. It was freezing out and we took cold showers. I'm not that picky... I know you get what you pay for but it was painful. ha.

If this is the best in Qingdao then I would not like to see the others. It was an okay room, poor bathroom facilities (almost no water pressure in the showers and almost communal toilets). The bar/common area is cool though. Location is in the old city - most of the sights are here but most of the restaurants and bars are in the other end of town..

A perfect location for all of downtown, the markets and the waterfront. The hostel itself is comfortable and unique, and the basement bar/lounge is the best i've seen in a hostel. Great place, and great value for money.
