Horrible hostel.. Rooms never clean, hostel restaurant too expensive and the location is too far from the only supermarket in town so thats no help. And to add to that the kitchen is tiny , not far big enough for the amount of people staying there....

I Will not say that It's how I ses an hostel. Kitchen is small. Dining room is mixed with restaurant. It's suite noise when de have to heard the excursion detail given for new group coming. Then the description of the location of this hostel is not specific to the one, many have the same geographical situation within 20 meters.

The kitchen for those who want to cook themselves is far too little and badly equipped. Good showers though.

The standard ensuite room for 6 is a cave. No lockers and toilets are horrible. The rest of the hostel is fine.

They take very good care of tour groups coming from el calafate with a expensive tour package paid. If you are a backpacker, look elsewhere : bad beds, kitchen ridiculously small with no tools, staff at the reception preferring to chat on msn instead of answering my questions, forbidden to eat in the dining room (it's reserved for the "tour" clients), for bus to road 40 they give you informations about "chalten tour" the hostel agency but they don't tell others exist. Worth value for money ever.

This place needs a bigger kitchen and ventilation for the dinning room, all the place smells like food.

In the past four years I have travelled an average of 20 weeks each year and stayed in more than 150 hostels and this hostel is the least value for money of any I have stayed in. No lights in some toilet cubicles. Toilet doors that would not close. No soap in toilets. Few items for use in the kitchen. Very limited fridge space for the size of the hostel. Refused to honour my HI card. No breakfast for dorm occupants and what was offered for $5.00 was the usual bread, jam and coffee/tea. Poor val

The place is expensive for what you get, and having the pay extra for the breakfast is outrageous (only toasted bread with marmelade, and coffee or tea). The steak is OK, though, in line with prices elsewhere. By far the nicest of all were the cleaning staff. The kitchen is tiny and quite shabby, without any control of stuff in the fridges or stores.10 fire stoves with only 50cm of workspace! Buy your own pastries in El Calafate, you'll be much better off!

Excellent hostel. Warm atmosphere, clean and close to the most important trekking paths. The restaurant there is also very good...and portions are huge! :-) I would strongly reccomend it. Cheers

Nice place to stay if you are going to do some walking in El Chalten. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Nice common area and excellent steaks on the menu! Excellent location just close to where the trekks start, with a great little sandwich shop close by to buy provisions for lunch. Nice atmosphere at the hostel in the evenings ...not a party hostel but that's to be expected since this place is there for the outdoors and walking. Had a great time in El Chalten.

Firstly I am a fairly self sufficient and independent traveller, however I couldn't believe that a well established hostel such as this, couldn't even provide hot water for a tea or coffee in the morning. Secondly the kitchen is the size of Harry potters cupboard under the stairs, so some bright genius decided to install 10 burners and only one tap available for use for ALL guests. Also limited pots meant you had to wait to cook your food any way. It wasn't even peak season Thirdly, we arrive

Rancho Grande was renovating so we stayed in a hotel next to it. We were welcomed very friendly and got a great double room, while we booked a dorm. Thanks for the good service!

The bathrooms often lacked toilet paper. Also, I understand that they want to charge for towels, but it creates a vibe of mistrust with the customers.
