Summary of traveller reviews

Grey Corrie Lodge Bunkhouse in Fort William offers great value for budget travellers, with a convenient location for outdoor activities. While some guests note rooms can be small and occasionally noisy, the well-equipped kitchen and drying facilities are appreciated. It's ideal for hikers and those seeking a no-frills base.

As others have said, it does what's expected: a cheap(ish) place to stay with the basics required. It's a pain for backpackers to have to bring towels but luckily we guessed this in advance. The hostel proudly asserts its 'no frills. fair price' philosophy – though this at times felt like an excuse for not bothering to maintain it very well: our room and that of another guest had a lock which didn't work very well, and in ours not one of the 4 bedside lights worked.

It's a basic property but has everything you need. Cheap private rooms and quite a big space for cooking and resting. Bathrooms could be better, but they were quite clean. It's perfect if you look for freedom (there's self-check in at any time at night), the property is near many hikes and routes and it's in a small and peaceful village. The Cafe around the corner was a 10/10.

The bunk house is very cheep accommodation that gives you access to the amazing mountains of the highlands. Its best to use it as a place to sleep, and get out and enjoy the great outdoors. The rooms are very small (as is the price), but all clean and kitchen is good, stocked with all the pans and cups you’ll need. The showers are very basic, but there is one that has a lock, and accurate hot and cold controls, which is nice! Paper towels in the bathrooms would be nice. Staff are very kind.
