Great place to stay on Penang. The staff was very helpful in pointing you in the right direction. The hostel was very clean and a great place to socialize.

A bit expensive, but one of the best places I stayed in Malaysia. So if you need to treat yourself with some confort, go for it. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast (with special breakfast for Lunar New Year). Good location in a quiet street but close from attractions

Nice hostel, but the 4 bunk I was in was quite small. Staff were really helpful, walking distance to the old town.

Nice and clean but not very exciting or social. Only real problem is that you need a keycard to access the rooms and the staff would only give us one card for the two of us. Not a big problem during the day but it becomes bothersome at night when the check in counter is closed from midnight to 7.

Excellent staff. Excellent location. Clean facilities. The AC is often set very cold, but can be adjusted. Very nice that they now provide towels and blankets. Breakfast was simple continental with eggs but highly appreciated. Very recommended stay!

A little noisey... people walking and banging their feet walking down the halls and rather juvenile attitude of the guests.Like most Asian warm climate cities this place had some annoying mosquitoes that ate me up one night.

Very good hostel. The dorm is a bit cosy but everything else, including power showers, was great.

Very cool, cozy place. Location is excellent. You can walk to everywhere. Staff is quite helpful. Breakfast is basic but good. Great facilities, bar/lounge, chilax area. Bathrooms/shower are very clean as is the whole place. Rooms are small but cozy. Beds are new, mattresses are comfy, AC is good. Wifi is good too. The only drawback is that there are no windows in dorms so hard to wake up. (for me at least) so bring your alarm. Otherwise excellent choice!

This hostel is right in George Town and it is very easy to walk around everywhere from here. There's a nice common space downstairs, and comfortable bean bags in the hallways to hang out in. It is very clean. The only thing that bothered me was that there were no windows in the dorm I was staying in but that seemed to be the case everywhere I stayed in Malaysia so I was kind of expecting it.

Definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Nothing to fault really, though they do allow kids in the hostel, and one of the nights was a little noisy. Free breakfast is really good. Staff are friendly.

This is a fantastic hostel in the heart of Georgetown. The staff are fantastic and will help you with anything you need. The hostel is spotless and it has been redesigned gorgeously. The security is great - keycard access to the hostel and huge lockers in the dorms. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are modern and clean, the wifi is great, and the bar serves delicious food. Highly recommended.

Spotless clean and comfortable, in an excellent location very close to everything. The reading area has very comfortable poufs and is great for meeting other travelers or just relax after the day. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly.

The Royakan is one of the best hostels I have stayed in. Its clean, comfortable, secure and in a great location to explore the city. All the faciliites still have a 'brand new' feel to them, there are huge, individual lockers in the rooms (bring your own padlock), the mattresses and pillows are really comfortable, by each bed there is a little shelf, reading light and power outlet, the showers have the 'rainfall' heads on them and plenty of hot water. The staff were friendly and accomodating.

It was really an excellent stay, and I want to thank the staff for all their work. The whole place was kept clean and close to public transportation and other attractions. The only complaint would be that the room was a little crammed. It would also be nice to have hangers in washing areas and in the room. But overall, it really was nice. Thank you.

Very nice accomodation and value for money, suits every backpackers or flashpackers needs. Quite secured and near to some pubs. I wish the shower heating were actually hot, it was only luke warm...... Other than that, it's a great place to stay.

Good location and very clean rooms. The dorms are perhaps a little bit small if you don't know any of the others in the room but they were comfy and clean. The staff were amazing, so helpfull and could not have been nicer. If i ever return to penang i will stay here
