The hostel is a little dated and located in a pretty quiet neighbourhood (easy to walk from station but can be difficult at night).

room 3 bed 1 had bed bugs and one off the staff members (young one, so maybe not used to the job yet) was rather expressionless but other than that it was good :-) (and I've experienced bed bugs before, they won't kill you)

Hostel was fine and has the potential to be excellent. My room was swarming with mosquitoes both nights I stayed, the onsen room was nice but a bit dirty, and the water too scorching to enter on four separate occasions. Staff were friendly but closed in behind their desk or cell phone. Fully equipped kitchen handy but dirty. Overall, the negatives could be fixed easily and maybe i just went during a bad time.

The dorms were small but comfortable. The on site onsen was great though a bit scalding for me! Lots of great information in the common areas and the staff were helpful and adorable. Good English skills as well. I would stay again for sure.

Friendly staff who spoke good English, free bike hire, free coffee and tea, free sake in the local bar, good wifi. Nice onsen on site. Good location in town near the station. A great budget place to stay.

Nice enough hostel, large kitchen and communal area. The room would of been fine if we weren`t directly above the in hostel male onsen, which meant we could hear people splashing around and chatting whenever they went for a dip! Along with the constant sound of dripping water outside from the onsen. Showers are horrendous! We had on en suite that was so bad that we used the communal showers, which weren`t much better. Would not recommend purely based on how bad the showers are!

The friendliness and kindness of the staff and their wealth of local knowledge are this Hostel`s most valuable asset. I met many other interesting traveller`s in the large communal kitchen. Being able to relax in the onsen was an amazing treat after a day of uphill cycling to Kannawa and free internet access meant I was able to plan the next phase of my journey with ease.

Only spent one night while passing through but had a really good stay. Onsen was an added bonus!

The staff was friendly but the shower was the worst I have ever had. There was only one available in the entire hostel from what I could tell and it was broken and dirty. I was forced to duck my head under the sink to get clean. It was probably the worst shower I have ever had. My room was basic but fairly clean, though I could still smell some foul hostel odor.

I just stayed for one night in the single room. The facilities were great, especially the onsen directly inside the hostel!

The staff was really nice and really cute. They were really helpful and had all these pre-printed maps and directions for all the sites. Probably the best hostel setup I've been to (I've been to dozens of hostels). Then the onsen they had in the hostel was even better. I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay at Khaosan. The staff is lovely and so helpful! They had a lot of useful printed information available and a guide of most of the local onsen with pictures and description.

The Japanese Style Room was ok, however the bathroom had no window and has seen better days. As well has the onsen...

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They led us to the locations we wanted to go to and had great recommendations. However, there were bed bugs in our bed. We killed one that had just bitten one of us and found evidence of further bed bugs, which is a situation that needs to be dealt with. We alerted the front desk staff and he didn't seem surprised.
