I really enjoyed staying at Sakura Guesthouse. It's in a lovely area and the facilities were good. The showers were really well set up! I would stay here again. The only drawback is the walk from Takayama station, but you can take a shuttle, I think.

Lovely guesthouse. The staff were all very nice and helpful. It's about a 25 minute walk from the main area of Takayama. It got a little bit annoying when walking to/from the station with my bags. In saying that, I liked that it was a little bit secluded and it's got a nice homey feel.

We love this place! It´s just a short walk to the downtown and it´s in a quiet, peaceful and beautiful location. In a good day you can see the mountains in the background. Nice showers, amazing kitchen, great atmosphere in japanese style. The staff is very kind, helpful and they are always ready to make you feel like home. You can rent bicycles for only 300 yens (6h) or 500 yens (whole day), which is a great deal, Takayama is a nice place to cycle. Close to Family Mart convenience store.

Lovely hostel. Bit of a walk from the train station but very close to the art museum and Hida No Sato! Awesome area. Staff were very accommodating. Would recommend.

The guesthouse is not at the most convenient position in the city, but close enough. It is incredibly near one of the best spot of the city (Hida no sato) where it only take 10mins walk. With a distance to the most touristy place, the guesthouse is a great place for exclusion and solitude. Staff are also friendly, providing necessary help for one to enjoy the main part of the town.

Very nice, clean hostel. Staff were accommodating. Room was cozy and comfortable. Facilities felt clean. The only drawback is the location. It was maybe a 20~25 minute walk from the station and ~30 minutes walking to the temples and sake breweries, but a much shorter bike ride (bike rentals were only 500 Yen for 12 hours). If you have a car it wouldn't be a problem either. It was closer to the Folk Village (~10-15 minute walk?), which was really nice.

Excellent stay all round, only real downside is the location, for a small town it's quite far from the main attractions.

Excellent in every way other than the bunk bed room being a tad too small.

Great hostel with really helpful staff! A lot of reviewers have said the location isn't good but we thought it was excellent as the main attraction we wanted to see was the Hida Folk Village which was a 5 min walk away. In addition, the hostel provided a shuttle bus service to the station every morning which was convenient. Overall, good facilities and beautiful surroundings.
