We stayed in a private double room with shared bathroom - it had a good TV and a bar fridge and was on the same floor as the kitchen and common room. We were very impressed with the staff, cooking facilities and consideration shown by other guests. The 733 rapid bus to downtown is only two blocks away. A very cheap way to get to the greyhound bus station ($1.50).

Great great place to stay. Reasonably priced, right in the heart of the Venice Beach Boardwalk. It's not too big, so it's easy to mingle with other travellers too and make new friends.

Cramped dorm and disappointing communal area. Staff were obliging but not especially friendly. Good security for a mixed area - near the beach but not much else (although thats standard for LA) Not much to write home about but does the job.

Awesome staff and super friendly service. Only improvement they could make is having a laundry facility on site but there are some about 15-20 minute walk away. The group pub outings should cater more towards budget minded travellers...it is a hostel after all.

We stayed on the top floor in a private room at this hostel. it was all clean and tidy, staff where nice. Id say it was a clean nice basic hostel, No bar or anything like that, although there is a bar right next door. The only bad thing I would say is on the top floor while I was there the wifi would drop in and out all of the time. But overall a nice place to stay.

Great Hostel. We had a room of 4 with a very nice view on the beach :) The bathroom was clean, the kitchen is big and convenient, the common room is nice. It's a great location if you wanna go to the beach. I definitly recomand this Hostel.

Right next to Venice beach (and all the homeless people that sleep there), above a reasonably good bar/restaurant, but very far from the centre of LA. Expect a 1.5 - 2 hour multiple bus journey to get to Hollywood Boulevard. 24 hour, friendly staff and a good size kitchen.

I just came back from my vacation, it was awsome! I spend 11 days at Samesun hostel in Venice beach, i ve met a really nice roommates there and i hope that we will keep in touch. This hostel is may be the only one which is so close to the beach, facing the ocean. If you go surfing just grab your surfboard and go its 3 min, surf, bicycle and skateboard rent is at the next door with 10% discount for those who stay in Samesun. Also there is a nice bar with good sandwiches and live music downstair

Very good location, big, clean rooms and VERY friendly and helpful stuff (especially Ricky!). The hostel is located in Venice beach so it's easy to go around. You can also take the bus. There's no breakfast and the kitchen is kind of small, but they also have big common room, where you can hang out with others. I suggest this hostel to everyone!

The perfect location makes up for a slight lack of atmosphere. There are only 2 bathrooms/wc on every floor...

Nice clean hostel, location is great. Showers were often out of hot water. The hostel really needs a bigger social area. People tended to sit in their rooms too much.

The place is really tacky but Its very well located. It's kinda old too. Don't expect a real hostel experience because the atmosphere for interaction with other people just doesn't happend there. It's a good price for a perfect location and a clean room. Nothing more than that. I would advise couples to go some place else.
