My room was like a cell, very dark and dingy, I had to use a torch to do anything in my room, no natraul daylight in the room, bars on the windows The whole place could do with a big clean up, rubbish everywhere It is also miles from the airport, it takes about 1 1/2-2 hours to get get here there are plenty of other better hostels near here, cheaper, cleaner Only thing going for it is the staff

We never made it to this hostel because I didn't realize that it isn't located in Trivandrum, it's actually a 2 hour drive north of Trivandrum. When I came to realize this it was 10pm and had just gotten off a long train ride so I was in no mood to look for Verkala so ended up staying somewhere else for the night.

Fantastic staff, very honest, helpful and and wealth of knowledge. A pleasure to stay, a great atmosphere in the garden where you can catch up with other travellers young and old over breakfast.

The ambiance here is amazing. There are always people hanging out in the common area, and we found them very friendly and helpful. The food was AWESOME, but took a long time. The location was very god, and the value for the money was unbeatable in the area. They will let you work for room and board. They didn't have the room that we booked available when we got there, so they upgraded us for free. We ended up extending our stay twice because we loved it so much.

Just a five minutes walk to the beach, good food, big and comfortable outdoor community area - wonderful combination for a summer vacation! The staff members were extremely friendly at any given time. I slept in one of the treehouses, which had a pretty hard mattress, and the pillow cover felt like wrapping paper - but for the price I paid I have no reason to complain at all. The shower in the yard had clean water, it just was a bit hard to catch it unoccupied. ;) Would definately stay again!

They didnt had a room for me when I got there after 24hours on the road. So they put me in another place that suppose to cost half as much with no telling me about it, and make advantage on that I just got to india and was confused. The location is far from the cliff, I moved after the two night I paid to a place nicer on the cliff and paid half as much.

This place is cheap and very relaxed. We didn't enjoy the vibe of varkala, and this place is full of people who have been in varkala for months and adore it. The owners and staff were very good and organized. Everything gets very sandy, so they do well to keep it as clean as they do. We'd skip varkala all together. Too touristy! The beach is beautiful, but weird: Hindu pilgrims in sari and lungi praying at one end, western tourists in bikinis sunbathing at the other.

Great vibe and good staff. Definitely the place to go if you've been staying in guesthouses in india and miss that hostel vibe and atmosphere. Would stay here again.
