Definitely the worst hostel we stayed in. Located around 20 minutes walk to the centre of Munich, very close to a deprived area. Hostel atmosphere was definitely lacking. Although I say this, the hostel rooms were huge with the beds and bathrooms of a good standard. I think the hostel is ideal if you are a lone traveller looking for somewhere to chill out!
if yoy use public transport location is nice but if yoy walk everywhere like me, location is away from the city center. they have nice big rooms amd lockers. staffs are super friendly.
Wi-fi sucked, had to go to reception floor to use it. The kitchen is tiny and gross, barely fitting 5 people for the whole hostel. I love walking, but if you don't, it gonna feel far from the centre. The room was always dirty, not sure if because the staff didn't clean well (or at all) or because we had messy roommates.
Good place for a nice sleep. 5 mins walk from the city centre. More like a hotel feel.
very clean room, nice showers and bathrooms, the staff are friendily and helpfull, the location is so good, right neart the U Bahn station "Goethenplatz", and theres a excelent bar in the hostel. Would back again for sure
The hostel is really nice, it can almost be considered a hotel. The rooms are big and spacious and the beds comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and big and there is even a small room with cabinets inside the room to leave stuff. The hostel is a bit far from the Centre but it is not a huge distance so we walked there everyday. The bar in the reception is nice and was always busy with people so the atmosphere was great.
This hostel provided a great start to my European adventure. Arriving as a solo traveller it is great to be able to meet other like minded solo travellers to help you settle in. The bar at Smart Stay is really great for this as anyone looking for a chat just heads down to the bar in the evening.
in a calm neighborhood nad well located to visit the interesting south and east of munchen. The dorm was spacious and very clean. The staff was well organized, no real atmosphere in the public room but for a "hotel" its understandable.
Very nice hostel, but for what you pay, you really don't get much. The rooms are clean, the bar is pretty good, but the wifi doesn't stretch to the rooms. The main problem I had was just how expensive it was for what you get. Then on top of that, you have to pay for pretty much everything else... Computer time, breakfast, etc. But it was very comfortable, and close to the U-Bahn.
Nice big rooms with your own private bathroom but you had to go downstairs to use the WiFi because there was no service anywhere else. The pool table area and restraunt were nice but the staff wasn't very social. Gave me a hotel vibe.
Eh. This was a disappointing hostel. The kitchen is tiny (honestly don't bother to cook here) and you have to go to the front desk to even get a pan (which are gross). The wifi isn't great and you weirdly have to get a little slip of paper (one for each device) with the password everyday. McDonalds is next door so use their wifi. Also there are families staying in the hostel which was a little odd. But the location is great! With effort you can meet people here.
Everything is fine in the Smart Stay Hostel Munich. We had a good time.

The bar was good! And the staff were very helpful, also extremely clean !
Rooms were clean/ comfortable but very hot and there was no AC. Not many outlets in the rooms. The wifi kept cutting out while in the room and we had to re log in multiple times, at reception it was fine. The bar was a good place to meet people.
The world clocks at the lobby were all wrong and I almost missed my flight to Tokyo! Other than that, the hostel is fine, I didn't hate it but didn't love it either, the staff don't seem to enjoy working there. The (paid) breakfast isn't very good, not worth the price.
Lovely place very clean and rooms are huge.
This is one of the best hostel we've been so far. The atmosphere at night is awesome. Everyone's drink at the bar and the terrace outside. Very easy to meet new people and go out with them in Berlin. It is a very big hostel and I would recommand it. The kitchen was dirty at night thought, no one was cleaning their dishes and you only have wifii in the lobby but that doesn't really matter.
The staff at this hostel was irritating - either they kind of didn't give a crap about you or they were downright rude. The wifi was horrible, which was difficult when staying at a place for five days - we had to go downstairs for wifi, and it didn't work in the morning and evening. Most importantly, THIS HOSTEL WAS NOT CLEAN. There were tons of bugs - not bed bugs (thankfully) - that would crawl into the beds at night, and proceed to leave you with a night of bug killing rather than rest.
GOOD: Inexpensive, super clean, right next to a metro, short metro ride to Old City, nice cafes nearby, really chill atmosphere. BAD: They kinda nickle and dime you (no free towels or breakfast)
