This place was ok for a few nights. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Nothing in the way of atmosphere at this place. Like others have said, more of a home stay kind of deal. I personally wasn't all that into this place. The shower and toile were pretty bad. You had to walk through the families lounge room to get to the rooms which was a little weird at times.
It's a budget option a few blocks away from the beach. Staff is very friendly and they keep kitchen and bathroom clean, WiFi signal is excellent. The hostel is very basic, don't expect any normal hostel-like environment, more a kind of home-stay.
This is more like a homestay than a guesthouse or hostel. The rooms are very basic but it was wonderful to stay with Dania and David who are a genuine, lovely couple. If you want to immerse yourself in Spanish and Nicaraguan life this is a good place to stay.
Very nice Nica family. Home is a few blocks from restaurants, bars and beach. We found it comfortable and great value. Keys for home and room at check in. We would stay there again.
The Sunset Guest House is a little place perfect for travelers on a budget. The hostel is a family home located away from the busier streets in town but is still just a short walk from the beach. The rooms are modest and rustic but for the price it is overall a good value, especially for those who want to experience another side of San Juan del Sur with friendly locals, as the owners are happy to engage in conversation with their guests. No problems with security and I recommend highly.
