A bit tricky to find, especially at night as you can't read the pertinent bit of the sign. It is in a court yard, through a door on the right side of Tongtian Jie (NOT where Google Maps says it is, the next street across) under a sign with a yellow, dotted circle and red Chinese writing. Worth finding because it is excellent.
Well located for the walk up Tai Shan and provided free left luggage storage while we were away. Not much hostel atmosphere but was quite with good staff members. Excellent value for money
The directions given on hostelworld.com however are pretty useless, if you arive at Taian train station instead of Taishan train station. When I arived there around 10 pm, there were no more buses going at all. However, even if you arive there during the day, the buses listed on the website don't depart from there. You have to take a bus to the Taishan train station first and take one of the buses mentioned to Tongtian street. Dorms and facilities were low standard, rooms have no windows.
No information at the desk about anything to visit. No prices information. Staff is not very kind appart of this young girl with glasses who seems to be new and willing to help and who can speak a little bit of english. For an international hostel, it is a shame that we don't get more help. In the room of 6 beds, there a only 4 plugs around 2 beds. Not enough light in the bathroom. Television in the lobby doesn't work. No atmosphere, no fun. So boring.
Perfect location and transportation, considerate staff with poor English, good facilities inside and outside the room. I like the air conditioner in the room, which makes the room very comfortable and fresh. However, the hostel doesn't provide any platform to let guests know each other and climb the mountain together, which becomes a pity especially for solo traveler.
