Advertised as AC and individual fans on bed - ac was not functioning and made a high pitch noise all night, no fans on bed. Insuffferably hot all night.ain door to room didn’t shut so room not secure, place was an absolute mess - all bins over flowing, pots full of pasta in the sink. Fairly noisy but it’s to be expected on a hostel. Good location, nice building but the positives end there. No AC or fan when that’s was was advertised as the biggest issue though as it’s specifically why I booked.

I didn't love this place. The location was right in the middle of the most touristy area in the city so it wasn't as easy to find local places to go. The vibe of the hostel overall had a super awkward vibe, no one talked to each other and the staff wasn't engaging. It was more of a place to stay the night vs a cozy hostel. The rooms were clean and had good storage area, but the bathrooms had barely any space to put your things and didn't feel super clean. I wouldn't stay here again sadly.

amazing hostel and location, just a few incidents on the booking end– two times we arrived to check in and were informed that our rooms were switched around. The second time I ended up in a bed that someone else had been expecting to use and came back at night to find my things all over the floor.

Hostelworld says

The Independente Hostel & Suites is set in a stunning, opulent building originally built as an ambassador?s residence. This means the rooms are spacious and feature high ceilings so there?s plenty of space for the comfortable, custom-made bunk beds. Hostelworld guests have had high praise for the friendly staff, saying they ?always seem to have smiles on their faces?. They also have an onsite bar and beer garden ? and we particularly like the delicious food in their restaurant.
