A party hostel that mainly offers activities including drinking and unfortunately are not really inviting people to go and meet the locals or even to see the city when this one offers so much. The atmosphere is that of a party hostel, very nice and welcoming young people who you can hear blaring out even from some dorms until midnight although coming from the rooftop. Very friendly staff.
Best hostel of my trip so far. Great vibe, great pool, nice beach bar, great location.
I almost didn't leave the hostel it is so nice. Amazing pool, great rooftop bar serving food and movies during the day but great party atmosphere in the evening. Really close to pub street for food and partying. I went out on the mountain bikes to parts of Angkor wat where there weren't tourists. Got super muddy and had a great time, with beer and noodles after.
I had an outstanding time here initially I was meant to be here for 3nights but turned into 6.Staff are excellent, great craic in the beach bar upstairs grenade challenge.very easy to chill out and get talking to everyone and meet people. Plenty things get organised aswell including booze cruise in the reservoir, mountain bike trek to through the temples, BBQ, pool party etc. The 6 bed dorm I was in was great, big beds and rooms cleaned everyday. If u are going to Siem Reap u have to stay here.
this hostel has everything: a pool, if you want a place to relax, a rooftop beachbar, which is the place to party, excellent food, great stuff an tons of other travellers - one of the best hostels i have ever been! rooms are clean and come with fan or ac, prices are reasonable, only the food is a little bit expensive - but worth it.
I had my own room and was good for what I needed. The hostel is down a path away from the main road which I liked. The rooftop bar is great! Good atmosphere and great way to meet other travellers.
make no mistake, this is a party hostel. If you want to party you'll have a Great night. If you want an early night so you can get up for the sunrise at Angkor Wat you'll have a horrible night, so choose dorm/ private room carefully
this a great hostel in a really good location for both the temples of angkor and the old town. the hostel is very clean and secure, the service and food is great and there's a lively social scene at the rooftop beach bar and the pool bar with plenty of organised excursions and activities. all in all on of the best hostels that i've ever stayed in!! a big thanks to the whole mad monkey team, and a definite 'book'!
Walking distance to pub street, night market, and national museum. Several reasonably priced food places just around the corner. Food at the bar WAY overpriced for Cambodia, except the coffee. 6 person dorm was cleaner and much more pleasant than 12 person dorm, which had malfunctioning shower and barely any head room on top bunk. Great sociable hostel overall. Helpful staff with good English, lots of activities always being planned/going on.
Overall a decent place to stay. Close to all the main attractions in town (Pub Street, Night Markets etc) and the rooftop bar is very cool. They can organize everything for you as far as tours go. Don't stay in room #3 if you value a good night's sleep though. It's located right by the main entrance and its full of loud, obnoxious, drunk hero's coming in from the bars. We were kept up on and off until about 430am all three nights we stayed. This was really no fault of Mad Monkey's though.
Loved this hostel. The rooms are great. It's really clean and the beds are so comfy. The bar is great and the atmosphere is really fun. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Food in the bar is great too. Would definitely recommend
Awesome! The only word! Partied everynight at the rooftop beach bar! Complete with sand and even a boardwalk type deck overlooking the under construction pool! I'll be back when it's finished! Food was great, mozzarella sticks please! Bar staff was hilarious dancing around and flaring! Reception took care of all the tours, too easy! No place else!

Great bar and atmosphere. So so rooms and unclean tap water
Absolutely fantastic place! Great value for money, great location. The bar was the best, rooftop bar filled with sand so it feels like you are on the beach, great atmosphere and facilities! Highly recommended! :)
Loud in the hallways until 5am. The bar on the roof has sand....and it is everywhere. Even several floors down. Had an issue with a tuk tuk driver and staff allowed him to sit and wait for us in the entrance area for over 4 hours and when we went downstairs and he harrassed us. Anyone can walk through the hostel at any time. Bathrooms smelled terrible. I would never go back.

Loved the hostel. Had a great stay, wifi was kind of hit n miss. Everything was great, big beds, large storage areas, lots of bathrooms, nice area to get ready. Only thing you could improve is some of the power switches only worked when the bed lamp was turned on. Tough to charge things when I went to bed cause the light needed to be on for the plug in to work. Great bar,

Great vibe at this hostel. Staff are a bit scatty tho, asked me to pay for both my laundry and room on 3 separate occasions when I has already paid up front - so have your head screwed on. Rooftop bar good although food and beer is cheaper elsewhere
The Mad Monkey had an awesome roof bar where it was quite easy to meet friends. I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. I only have two complaints: -The top bunks in the dorms were the highest bunks I have ever seen in my life. Climbing in and out of them was unusually annoying. -The dorm bathrooms were not kept very clean. One time, one of the sinks got backed up. I told a guy on staff about it. He didn't do anything about it. It seemed as if they only cleaned the dorm bathrooms once-per-day.
Great atmosphere, five minutes walk from everything. Rooms are great value, but everything else can be found slightly cheaper in the town. Staff are very friendly, and it's a really great place to meet people, especially if you are travelling alone.
The Hostel was pretty great, but two thing that our group and myself did not like at all was that 1) the shoes weren't allowed in Hostel so we had to leave shoes outside and then some of our flip flops got stolen & it was soaked wet since there was no roof outside. 2) There is a Sand Rooftop Bar which was pretty AMAZING, but THEN, that means sand was EVERYWHERE in the hostel. I'm not kidding. Even in the bedrooms, bathrooms, n etc. The workers tried their best cleaning up constantly, still there
