The Mad Monkey was in the best location ever, but that was pretty much all it had going for it. Our room and bathroom were dirty, and it took several times to ask the staff to clean it before they actually did. Tom is the best tuk tuk driver they have! He's super friendly and suggested lots of great things for us to do if there was a lull in our day. The staff at MM were generally unhelpful, but still fairly friendly.

We stayed in the 12-bed dorm. Beds are clean and comfortable, air con works reasonably well, but for the price I'd definitely stay in a private. There are 2 toilets, only one of which worked at any point usually, and there is poor ventilation in them so they're constantly a little smelly which is just unpleasant. They should be cleaned daily but weren't. Wifi works well in the dorms, the bar is great and has a good atmosphere, but pay the $1 extra and stay in a private.

too many people smoking weed on the rooftop beach bar. Who wants the smell of that when your trying to eat your lunch?

An oasis in the middle of the desert. Amazing bar upstairs with great food and notorious spotify playlist.(Not that cheap food, but worths) 5 min walking to the main street where bars are located. Helpful staff. Just everything you need when going to Angkor Wat.

We booked for two nights but only stayed one. We booked two beds but at arrival the guy at the door told us we would have to share a bed. The single bunks are not small but there was no way we were paying for a crammed space after all our travel. We ended up sorting out another room for one of us and the bunk for the other but left in the morning. The staff told us the night guy didnt understand our booking. No drama just not our best moment. We went to downtown siem reap instead; had a ball.

I will say their rooftop beach bar did make everyone want to party and its a great place to hang out. Because it is a party hostel it is not very clean but you can't expect it to be. My biggest complaint is that they lost my very expensive sports towel in the laundry. I would have not been so upset if they acted genuinely sorry but i had to take he initiative to get them to call and double check and there was no offer of we lost your towel we will give you some sort of compensation. Fun times!

There is no hot water, the wifi is essentially unusable, and the electric power shuts off every few hours. There is constant construction so you're always asked to move from wherever you happen to be sitting. The staff are somewhat disorganized. I had booked a single private room, but they first gave me a dorm room and insisted that's what I booked, then moved me to a more expensive double room. I rented a bike for three days and on the third day, I found that they had given it to someone else.

It was a cool place. The hostel had a good bar on the top floor, and their kitchen actually served good food. I did not care for the beach sand in the bar, because everyone tracked the sand throughout the hostel. The hostel did have some problems with the facilities, but this may be due to it is in Cambodia. Probably all the hotels would have the same problems.

I have been travelling for quite some time around most of the world and the Mad Monkey hostels in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh are the best I have stayed in. The staff welcomed me and treated me like I had known them my whole life. I ended up staying an extra 8 nights in Siem Reap and an extra 7 nights in Phnom Penh just to stay at these hostels.

A big plus : the top banana bar on the roof terrace, that really looks like a beach bar. Really relax atmosphere. We were overall very happy but we had a small problem. We booked a bus coach ticket back home, paid for it, but when the time to leave came, nobody showed up to pick us up, and we found out that the staff member took our money without making our reservation... It wasn't a big deal, but it really stressed us out. The issue was quickly fixed by another more helpful member of staff.

Good clean hostel in a good location. Oy mishap was a number of incorrect items charged to our room (a downside of not paying up front) but when we brought this up at checkout all was clarified and sorted. The guy that does nightshift is very good, he always went beyond the call of duty and ensuring our bus away picked us up on time.

Great hostel - fantastic location and clean rooms. Hostel organized a few different types of outings and I stayed an extra day to go on a boat party. I stayed in the 12 bed dorm, no dramas apart from the usual early wake ups and late night stumbles but everyone was considerate.

Good hostel, bartenders spend a little too much time chatting up the girls and not providing actual bartending service... Boys, your going to sleep with the girls anyways, RELAX!

Stay there....- don't think any more needs to be said as a female travelling alone hostels can be hit or miss but this is one of the most friendly sociable ones I've stayed in, the roof top bar is a good starting point to chill or party. Its clearly run by someone who's been travelling and knows what people want, not just to make a quick buck.....it also helps the manager is pretty easy on the eyes!!
