Had a great time. Perfect location. Staff was very welcoming!
I stayed in a private room. Spacious with comfortable bed and good shower. I did the more expensive tour to the rice field (320Y). Food and guide were excellent, though more options to go to the less touristy rice field options would be nice.
This Old Place Hostel features an excellent location, a book full of tours and trips around Guilin, which they organize for you if you manage to book them one day in advance, and bicycles for rent, which makes exploring Guilin even more fun. The double rooms are clean and the bathrooms were very modern for Chinese standards. They also have a rooftop where you have a stunning view on the lake and the mountains.
Amazing location, walkable to centre but hostel itself is by the river and scenic area. Staff here were very helpful with advice on where to go, how to get there and how much it will cost. The room itself was very spacious and clean and there were plenty of social areas to go to, including a rooftop terrace with views of the city.
Near the pleasant river and a few minute walk away from a shopping street, this hostel made a great stay for me. Brilliant staff, clean bathroom, and the most important , thick and soft mattress (which is rare in China!!) Love it!
Had a great stay. Only negative was that I felt like the hostel charged extra for everything. Other than that, I loved the rooftop terrace and the common area downstairs, and the girls at reception were all very nice and cute too!
Really good hostel with a great location, most of the staff was really helpful the guy in the reception might have been a little more enthusiastic he for example did not want to help us order a taxi to the train station when we were supposed to leave however the lovely lady in the reception did it in a heartbeat when we asked her. The hostel was clean and had a good atmosphere, I recommend buying a few beers and go to the top floor and drink them. The cats also kills spiders which is a big plus.

An amazing hostel. Beautiful rooftop. Nice staff. :)
Great hostel, very nice staff that answered all our questions. Awesome rooftop, great to watch sunsets. Rooms were nice and clean, would go again!
This hostel has a brilliant atmosphere - it has great social areas (the roof top bar provides brilliant views of Guilin). We enjoyed attending the dumpling party and watching a few films (from there selection of 500 films!). Guilin was a brilliant place to visit - especially to go onto other beautiful places such as Yangshuo, Xingping and Longsheng- The hostel offers organised day trips to these locations.
Absolutely loved this place. Had the best time here and met heaps of cool people at dumpling night, in the common area, and on the tour to the rice terraces. Dorm room was great with good aircon and lockers. Location is good with everything within under ten mins from the hostel. Decent wifi in rooms and common area. Nice rooftop bar when it's open
This place was great. I stayed in one of the dorms, which was basic but clean and air con-ed. It was social without being loud or obnoxious. A bunch of us met at the dumpling party and ended up going on the rice terrace trek that the hostel puts on. That was a lot of fun, but not well organized when setting up. Only downside was having 3 showers to share for the floor of dorms, and security getting into the hostel was a little lax, but each door had its own key. Over I would definitely recommend
Hostel was clean, bed was comfortable (too soft, if you're used to Chinese beds), food was decent. Location was awesome, easy to find, right around the corner from lots of places. View from the 5th floor terrace was amazing. Facilities were just okay, considering the number of dorms and rooms, there was only 3 showers and 3 toilets to handle everyone. It was particularly frustrating for the toilets, because only one was western style. Showers are really small. No soap in the washroom.
The staff was very friendlyand helpfull even sometimes there was a language problem. Very clean and good breakfast.
Located not too far from the main attractions, and far enough from the noisy city to have a nice rest during your stay. The people of the staff are very friendly. At night there's not much to do around, but you can spend a peaceful time along the river.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. James from the reception could be a bit more enthuasiastic. Rooms were clean but the hostel should think about getting the old woodenheadstuff from the bed out of the room - risk of cockroaches and other insects. We carried them outside the room. But overall very clean. Rooftop is nice. Location perfect.
I was on a mother daughter trip throughout China with my daughter. We arrived at your hostel late at night but felt the inviting atmosphere immediately. Loved your hostel...
Great place to stay in Guilin! Lots of home comforts after travelling in China for almost a month. Homemade pizza and breakfasts a welcome break from Chinese cuisine. Also really nice relaxed vibe if you've come from one of the big cities! Just be slightly wary of the tours they provide. In particular the longji rice terrace option. The hike isn't as simple as it sounds! Ask for a map as your day could easily turn into a nightmare if you make the wrong decisions. Awesone place though! X
