You cant get a better location for Venice beach than this hostel... rooms and cleanliness left a little to be desired... but its very fitting for the chabby chic feel that venice is all about.

third time staying here, this place has so much character and venice beach is such a unique part of L.A. I would not stay anywhere else. The staff is really helpful and the hostel does a descent enough breakfast and an okay dinner which is better than nothing.

We have booked twin beds private room, but the room was four beds dorm. Though other guests were not there, the facilities in the room was lower than expected. In the bathroom drain was broken and dirty water was running up. Second day we asked to change the room and once they said yes, but some miscommunication between morning staff and night staff, we were made to stay same room again. Was terrible. Staffs were really friendly and helpful, but owner seems not able to manage the things.

Do not expect too much from dinner (which was only spaghetti with sauce and the next day rice with beans). Breakfast was good, with waffles/pancake and bread with egg. Perfect location if you like the beach, and sports. A lot of different nationalities where in the hostel, so you never lonely when you come by yourself. You could also work at the hostel as part time for part of the stay. So the staff here where very kind and friendly (except the owner himself).

Stay at this hostel if you don't mind paying $40 a night to be a block away from the beach and for free breakfast and supper. Do not expect anything else. WiFi only worked in the kitchen and common rooms. Our computer in our room wouldn't turn on and the staff didn't seem to care. The shower head sucked, took my whole shower to warm up, and by that time the floor of the shower was flooded as the drain was clogged. They're super strict on their rules. Good coffee, I'll give them that.

its a bit run down but so is the rest of venice. i liked the effort with the dinner they prepare for you. best thing: its about a 3 min walk to the beach.

Great hostel, very good location. You can save money on food, since breakfast and dinner is included. However it is the same everyday so you might get bored if you stay for a long time. Breakfast is waffles and pancakes. Great place to meet people! Nice common room and a terrace on the roof. Shower and toilet in our room as well. I would definitely stay there again.

Regular Hostel, fair prices based on the truly awesome location. 5min walk to the beach. Friendlyness of the staff couldn't more variate. From mean useless a§§ motherfu*ers to really beatiful helpful great people, depends who you get. Balcony is awesome, chill in the shade, watch the venice wierdos down the street AND the pacific at the same time. Liquor store is just one block away and endless restaurants, weed doctors and bars within 2 min walkin distance. We'd come again in a heartbeat..

Loved the hostel, but I don't think smoking should be permitted inside. Did not like that at all.

The building needs some repairs and rooms are simply dirty (or at least mine was dirty). There was a safe in the room, but it was blocked when I arrived, so the manager opened it by screwdriver (btw, I did not feel secure, storing my valuables in a safe that can be opened like that). The only really strong point of the property is its location - few steps from the beach and there is a bus stop nearby, so one can easily reach the downtown (although it is a long ride).

All though, the location is great, the place is really old, would rather pay a little more and stay in the hostels next door. Stayed in the private two bed room, the rooms are big, but bathroom is old, and rooms are old. The people staying there were nice. The staff was helpful, a bit unorganized though.

The WIFI connection is horrendous and only sometimes works outside in the corridor. The place needs a massive refurbishment, it is very old and dull, it is an absolute dive. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed in the world, it was so bad that you could feel the springs. Although it says dinner and breakfast included you only get waffles or rice and pasta not a proper meal. The staff barely new the area and were very sarcastic and unhelpful. The only plus is it is right next to the beach. WNR

A little bit shabby rooms and the shower didn't work that well. The Key-deposit was alot, 100 $! But close to everything in Venice and 40 minutes walk to everything in Santa Monica. We can recommend the VIP tour to Universal Studios that taket you there and back plus entree-fee if you not have a car. Free wifi, dinner (pasta or rice, vegetarian) and breeky (waffles or egg and toast) and that was good!

It was great to be greeted by Carl, he was super nice. Nice staff. Hard to find the actual hostel, no easily visible sign. June gloom set in for our stay there so it was never very nice looking outside. Great little cafe across the street and bars around the place. Very close to Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier is 45min walk away. Very far away from Hollywood and usual touristy activities. Traffic is always gross. Hire a car.

Great location.. 1 minute to the beach.. Though it is a fairly expensive cab ride to Hollywood.. Staff were great except for 1 guy that I found a bit rude.. Good common area and they provide everything to make breakfast and dinner which was good!

Really liked that you could make your own breakfast & that dinner was included too!

Owner treats you like a piece of money, an shouldn't work in a hostel. The fact his miserable face is there daily made an average stay. I don't normaly make reviews but the effort here was necessary...... Stay around the corner!
