Summary of traveller reviews

Glasgow Youth Hostel offers a beautiful historic building with spacious common areas and friendly, helpful staff. It's located in a lovely area next to a park, though be aware of the many stairs as there's no lift. Some guests noted issues with room temperature and shower functionality.

Friendly staff, free luggage storage. Having only 2 outlets far from the bunks is frustrating, especially in a 8 person dorm. Quite a walk from city centre but conveniently close to university of Glasgow.

The hostel is very basic and I didn’t feel like it was worth the price. The positives - comfortable bed, quiet and spacious room, large common areas and the staff were friendly and helpful. The negatives - toilets missing basic hand hygiene (one had no soap and one had no way to dry your hands), unpleasant odours throughout much of the hostel but notably the dining area and kitchen, which are also stuffy, no elevator and 3 flights of stairs

Really pleasant stay. The water not being drinkable and the lack of elevator are the only issues really. The rest is good. The room could have done with a toilet separate to the shower room so someone could use toilet when shower in use but that's a minor inconvenience. The locker was a bit damaged but functional. The staff were lovely. The building is real old and grand. Waiting areas are lovely and quiet. Clean and calming vibe. I have been a few times and will visit again.
