Hostel of the Week: Meininger, Hamburg, Germany
We often post about hostels and budget hotels, and show some great ones that people are convinced must be pricey, because “there’s no way a hostel/budget hotel could be that nice or cool.” Well the Meininger IS both that nice and that cool.
It’s located just a five minute walk from the Altona station in the city centre of Hamburg, and right between the trendy shopping and entertainment districts of Ottensen and Sternschanze. There are TVs in every room, a game room with billiards, table football, karaoke, a Playstation and movies to watch, and the atmosphere is incredibly cosmopolitan. There’s an all you can eat breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi (of course) and it’s even pet-friendly!
Everything about this place ticks all the boxes on backpackers’ accommodation wish list. But don’t just take our word for it! Here’s what actual customers said:
“The staff is awesome, one of the girls at the counter could speak 5 languages with a good level of understanding. beds are very comfortable.”
“A nice, fresh and big room. Good value for money!!”
“Great location! Friendly staff. Close to the Soviet Submarine. Recommend shweinske on the way to the sub.”
