That awkward moment when you think you’ve been dropped off at a palace but it’s actually your hostel – true story! Seriously, hostels like Zostel Jaisalmer don’t come around very often.
Situated in the north west of Rhajistan, the hostel’s intricate façade fits in perfectly with the medieval romanticism of Jaisalmer. It’s only 15 minutes’ walk from Jaisalmer Fort and if you head up to the rooftop, you’re in for a blissful surprise. Brace yourselves for a panoramic 360 view of “The Golden City”, the Fort rising from the sandy plains of the Thar Desert like an otherworldly sand-spaceship. It really is a pinch-yourself moment.
Be it a dorm or a luxurious private, the 91% customer rating speaks for itself. There’s nothing more satisfying than returning to elegant room after a desert safari for a hot shower (a hostel highlight, according to our customers!) then treating yourself to a good ‘ol steam in the steam room. Zostel’s food game is on point with the rooftop restaurant serving home cooked Rajasthani delicacies and they offer a complimentary brekkie in the morning. We could get used to this golden life! At a price of £3.40/€4.30/$4.85 per bed, you’d be mad not to stop here on your adventures.
Jaisalmer is less touristy than the likes of Jaipur and Jodphur but it’s great to have local staff to show you the ropes and routes. Not only that, they promise to “tickle your curiosity with folk tales.” What a hoot!
Sooooo if exotic and majestic is your thing, this place is worth every penny and more. Our customers can certainly back up that claim…
“Unbelievably amazing hostel. I am a long term traveler and I think this is one of the best hostels I’ve been to. Paying close attention to details, they make sure your experience as a traveler will be flawless. Their facilities are clean, beds are comfortable, there is a great atmosphere to socialize and the staff is very friendly.”
“Great location, just outside the city, which is a peaceful break and with a great view of fort. Best showers I’ve had in India!! The staff went out of their way to accommodate us! Really lovely people! We did the camel safari which was really great value, and an awesome safari! Definitely stay here if in jaisalmer.”
“The best Hostel ever. Extremely friendly staff, Neat and clean, amazing views from their terrace restaurant. And of course the hostel building itself made in typical Rajasthani style and their wonderful cute courtyard. One night stay also included free breakfast(bread toast/paratha or omlette) and free pickup from the railway station. It’s an easy 10 mins walk to the main gate of the Jaisalmer fort. Just don’t forget to spend some time at night in their terrace. Amazing views.
“A hostel that has everything you need for a decent price. Spacious dorms, clean bathrooms, helpful staff and everything else. Fast wifi and nice rooftop terrace. Maru was extremely friendly and helped book a bus and take us to the train station. Would recommend!”
