i did not enjoy my stay here. 5 friends and i stayed in the 6 bunk room for 3 nights and we wished we were somewhere else. the facilities were not clean and the rooms were very hot. for the price, it is an okay place to stay for one night, but i do not recommend any longer

I recently booked a room at Royal Hostel Tirana which left me deeply uneasy and uncomfortable. I arrived at the hostel to check in and was alarmed to find that the state of the hostel was not as described with what I can only describe as a tense atmosphere (realistic looking 'toy guns' on the table, no proper reception area) as well as my booking itself being changed without me knowing. As a female traveller, not being told that the single room I had booked had been demoted to a mixed dorm room- as according to the hostel manager, the female dorms were 'fully booked out' was strange and anxiety inducing. I had arrived at night time when no other accommodation options were available and had I not been accompanied by friends whom I could stay with separately I would have had no other option but to share a mixed gender room with strangers which is something I am personally not at ease with. Overall a weird situation.
