Hafaldan HI Hostel - Seydisfjordur

The town of Seyðisfjörður nestles in a long and narrow fjord surrounded by mountains 1000 m high, snow-capped in winter season. Although the population of Seydisfjordur is only around 650 , the town boasts many facilities including a variety of shops, blooming art scene, beautifully renovated old buildings, welcoming locals and unforgettable nature. Once a week the Ferry Norrona arrives into Seydisfjords port from Denmark and the Faroe Islands with travelers and goods.

Seyðisfjörður Hostel Hafaldan is housed in two distinctive and atmospheric wooden buildings. Our location Hafaldan Harbour was founded in 1975 and is in Ránargata 9. It nests on the fjords north side by the harbour, about 2 min drive from the town’s center. The owner of the hostel lives in one half of the house which gives it a very familiar feel and the beautiful fjord view from the dining area is unforgettable.

The more recent location, Hafaldan Hospital is in the center of town in the former hospital building in Suðurgata 8. The house was renovated in 2013 to better meet the needs of our guests and we have had a very good feedback from our visitors who rave about the elegant Kitchen and Dining hall as well as the good atmosphere. This is where you find the reception winter 2013-14 and always in the summer months from June - September.

In both buildings we offer great facilities for our guests: excellent common facility, kitchen, dining and sitting area, washing machine and Wi-Fi Internet connection. In Hafaldan Harbour we offer double rooms, twin rooms and a 4 bedded room, all with shared bathroom facilities. In Hafaldan Hospital we have double rooms with or without private bathroom, twin room, four and five bedded rooms, family rooms and dormitory beds Bed linen can be rented and breakfast baskets can be bought. We are a green hostel with an option to recycle. Our compost goes to our happy hens in Ránargata and you can swap a 100 krona coin in for a fresh egg in our hostels kitchen. This service depends though on the balance between the egg making and staff / guests consumption and we can´t guarantee it :) what we guarantee though is a warm welcome!

Cancellation policy: 24h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the 90% of the first night of your stay.
