Asia Festival: Guitar Duo Recital by Assad Brothers

If you appreciate intricate guitar music, this recital by the Assad Brothers offers a rich blend of Brazilian folk, Latin, jazz, and classical. Sérgio and Odair Assad bring decades of experience to the stage, performing iconic pieces by Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos, and Assad himself. The program also includes rare Brazilian compositions, giving you a chance to hear less familiar works alongside well-loved classics. It’s a thoughtful mix that highlights the versatility and depth of the guitar. Adding a unique touch, local guzheng player Wan Xing joins the duo for a special piece inspired by the legend of Mulan. This collaboration reflects the cultural exchange celebrated during the China-Brazil Cultural Year in 2026. The performance is both technically impressive and emotionally resonant, with moments inviting quiet reflection and lively appreciation. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to this music, the recital offers a memorable experience connecting different traditions through sound.
