Recently refurbished, 39 Smart Intelligent Inn is a charming and modern hostel nestled in Love Lane, Georgetown, Pulau Pinang—right in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage zone.
We offer five private rooms with air conditioning and in-room bathrooms, as well as three dormitory rooms featuring 20 beds with air conditioning and shared bathrooms.

Upon arrival, I was singled out and asked for my passport, which was photographed and sent to someone else to “approve” my booking — despite having already booked and paid online like every other guest. No one else in the lobby was asked for a passport; they simply showed their reservation and received access. Host was absolutely terrible. Zero atmosphere at this place. Does the job for an ok price but did not enjoy my stay here. Host threatened me with a 10k fine for supposedly breaking their front door system when I tried to get in without him telling me the lock number had been changed.
