To get to us from San Francisco International Airport, take the yellow BART train and get off at Powell Street Station, a 15-minute walk from the hostel.

Amsterdam hostel offers a nice and secure environment for cheap compared to the other hostels around. The staffs are really nice and efficient. It’s a walking distance from union square and financial district. There’s always a wide range of people staying there from different parts of the world. You should give it a try and you’ll have a good time.

I stayed for 2 nights. It was a lovely stay and we got to meet with very nice fellow travelers. The kitchen was clean and well-equipped. I would recommend it.

The sevice at the front desk was very accomodating. They seem clean in their linens and kitchen. The bed was a little squishy but all in all it was a good hostel.

The Amsterdam Hostel has been a great respite for the economical tourist, visitor for many decades. I remember being there in the 1970s and enjoying it. It could use an upgrade of the facilities, but even without that it is a good deal. Bunkbeds have no rail, so that needs to be changed. But there is a cozy kitchen, complete with free vegetables at least some of the time. There is a patio, but there may be cigarette smokers there, despite the conflicting signage. And the TV unfortuntately.

They got a kid running the hostel since the travellers stop coming. He refuse to tell a guest not to put a mask on. But not to put a mask on while she is hacking away in the room. They leave trash from prior guests and then housekeeping does notclean it and when I leave. He's only ran the hostel since the pandemic not when there's backpackers sharing 6 in a room. They know they r sharing. They hot some homeless in the room now and so she pays for a shared room but acts like it's her home

The lock on the front door was broken so not too much security getting in and out. The place is pretty big, but easy to navigate. The rooms- we were in a 6 bed female dorm- are incredibly basic but have their own bathrooms and showers. The bunk beds felt like they were falling apart! It was pretty scary being in the top bunk, but apart from that everything was clean enough. Breakfast was nice. Great location, get what you pay for.

My room had a broken window latch. After some attempts to convince me that they could secure it with a screwdriver, they gave me another room. They didn’t mention this to the next folks till they were asked about it, so check your room out! The fridge ran too cold and froze all my food. Very run down but seemed clean enough. Staff were friendly. Good laundry facilities.

Management is Rude, cynical, condescending. Water does not get warm. I seen bugs. If you want a negative experience while staying in San Francisco, Stay here. The staff should respect people staying because they are the ones who are providing you with a job!
