Chapter San Francisco

Welcome to Chapter San Francisco! We are a minimal base hostel for international travelers, digital nomads, and the tech community to experience the city without breaking the bank.

To stay true to our international values, ALL California residents are subject to screening before check-in and have a 28-day maximum stay within a six-month period. We DO NOT accept San Francisco residents who reside in or within 25 miles of the San Francisco city limits.

IN HOUSE POLICY
We ask that you practice respect for our community, our neighborhood, the environment, yourselves, and each other. Some ways to practice respect are to firstly, respect yourself by caring for your hygiene, being mindful of what you waste (such as water and other resources), and considering the well-being of others in the same communal space.

Provided your understanding, you will adhere to our in-house quiet hours from 10 PM to 9 AM, practice kitchenette manners such as cleaning after yourselves, and adhere to the house rules upon check-in.

We are a smoke-free, drug-free, non-party location.

By entering our hostel, you are agreeing to the standards and rules we have set to support a safe environment. You agree to damage fees that may be incurred as listed in our company policy. You agree that Chapter San Francisco and the staff representing the brand have the right to cancel your stay.

LOCATION
We are located at 1533 Franklin St, San Francisco, CA 94109. Chapter San Francisco is a triple-door entrance located on Austin St above Pistachio Cafe.
Please note, there are no elevators and climbing stairs will be necessary.
The front door and exit are the same.
For ADA-compliant rooms, toilets, showers, and access, please book the full private bed, deluxe or premium cabin.

TRANSPORTATION FROM AIRPORT
Easiest option: Uber/Lyft: ~$30 one-way.
Inexpensive option: Bart and Bus: Plan it: sfmta.com & bart.gov
Clipper transportation cards are available in-house for $4.

PARKING
Street parking is available in the neighborhood. Please pay attention to the street signs to avoid the city issuing you a ticket.
For more secure parking, the closest parking garage is Old First Street Parking on Franklin & Sacramento.

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS
All California residents are subject to screening.
We do not accept San Francisco residents who reside within 25 miles of the San Francisco city limits.
You agree that you are NOT a resident of San Francisco and that failure to adhere to this policy will lead to charges, fees, and cancellation.
California residents may stay a maximum of 28 days every 6 months subject to approval.

IDENTITY & PREPARATION
Guests are required to provide valid government identification before check-in, a passport, or a state ID.
You confirm that you are 18 years old and above upon arriving at the hostel, otherwise, you must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
We are a cashless facility. A valid credit/debit card may be necessary. Please reach out for emergency circumstances.
Understanding that Chapter San Francisco is a technology-forward hostel with limited customer service hours, you agree to keep your phone charged throughout your stay.
You agree to receive communication via the messaging system throughout your stay. Chapter San Francisco will not contact you outside of your reservation window.

Check-In: 1600-2200 PST.
Check-Out: 1000 PST.
Paid Early Check-In: Upon availability
Paid Late Check-Out: 1400 PST.
Quiet Hours: 2200-0900 PST.

SELF CHECK-IN
Check in by 2200| 10 PM PST.
Save time and seamlessly access your bed by checking-in online via the booking email using your valid government identification, and providing the correct credentials to reach you including email and phone number.

To have access to the building, check-ins must be processed before 2200 on the day of your reservation.

CHECK-OUT
After 10 AM, room access at the hostel will no longer be available, unless an extension of your stay has been made before the checkout date.
We ask that you remove your belongings from your bed, locker, fridge, and common areas. We ask that you leave your used linens in your room and close the doors behind you.

There is no need to stop by reception unless you want to say goodbye.

CANCELLATIONS & RESERVATION MODIFICATIONS
We understand life happens, here's the best way to manage reservation changes/modifications:

Because the on-site team has limited access to reservation updates, please, refer to your original booking platform for more information on cancellations or modifications AND send a message.
For information regarding cancellation refunds, please refer to the cancellation type you chose at the time of booking.

Standard Rates: Standard rates booking may request a 100% refund within 24 hours of booking confirmation. Thereafter, modifications or cancellation is allowed but must be made 5 days prior to arrival. Any changes made within 5 days of arrival and no shows will result a 100% penalty charge.

NON-REFUNDABLE – Non-refundable rates booking may request a 100% refund within 24 hours of booking confirmation. Non-Refundable rates is a special pre-paid discounted rates, modification and cancellation of your booking are not allowed after 24 hours of booking. No refund under any circumstances including no shows.

Not showing up for a reservation automatically cancels the reservation allowing the bed to be serviced the next day. Please reach out to us for any delays with your arrival.
Extensions should be made before 10 AM through a receptionist or a booking engine of your choice.
Same-bed assignments are subject to availability and are not guaranteed. Multiple separate bookings will require new codes and possible re-check.

BAGGAGE STORAGE
We offer free baggage storage on the day of check-in and the day of check-out.
Overnight luggage storage after check-out is available for $10/night for no more than 7 days.
Any luggage left behind will be donated. We hold lost & found items for 30 days before donation.
Please send us a message to receive the baggage storage code for your floor. We may request valid proof of identification/passport to confirm.
