Great hostel in an excellent location! The kitchen was really nice and there are lots of bathrooms so I never had to wait. Staff were helpful and always available. No AC so that heat wave was a bit killer, but they brought fans in so we didn’t die. Overall amazing and I’d stay again.

Had an incredible stay. It's incredibly centrally located - literally right next to the British Museum. So convenient. Amazing. Staff were super friendly and approachable. My only warning is that if you are severely unfit, this place not be for you as there are a lot of stairs if you are on some of the higher floors.

Nice place in a great location. Just know that if you have a basic room, you'll be in a different place and away from the main area

This is a great place to stay. Only inconvenience is the lack of shelving in the showers and toilets, there was nowhere to put my things when dressing or showering

Pros Excellent location! In the heart of London. I could get to the hostel during the night not feeling in danger. Friendly stuff, willing to help. Rooms were clean enough but could be a little better. Quiet during the night, had a good sleep. Cons No curtains so privacy was not a choice and too much light during the morning. Very small hallways and bathrooms. Couldn't wash my face without water falling out of the sink. Bathrooms could also be a bit cleaner. Overall Good value for money.

Overall, I thought the hostel to be okay. It was clean, safe, and had friendly staff. I just found it a cramped for guest areas. For example, the little chill out room is pretty small (3-4 people max), though that is because there is a lot of items in there for guests to use. The kitchen area downstairs was also had ants in it; but I mean, it is the downstairs area, so I can understand that, but I don't think others would appreciate it. It is an old building, so the rooms will be small.

Astor is located in a great location, close to the underground, multiple bus stops, and walkable distance to many places. Lots of stairs, which is to be expected in the older buildings, but the stairs themselves felt pretty precarious. The building felt very dingy. The showers and bathrooms were noticeably cleaned only once. Really loud, doors slamming all night and you could hear every movement upstairs. The beds were fine, but the lockers were noisy. It was so hot I had trouble sleeping.
