Lovely place to stay, maybe a 20 minute walk into the city centre but it's a lovely walk in. Facilities were great, staff were very friendly and accommodating! We weren't there for long so didn't participate in any of the hostel activities but there was ping pong, movie nights, a bar, nice sitting area and an outdoor bit. Would highly recommend for your visit to York!

The best part about staying in a hostel is the people you meet there. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by the friendliest staff who gave me all the insider tips of beautiful York and were always up for a chat when I was in the lobby. Shout out to Patrick, David, and Steve! Thanks for the great conversation and good vibes! I honestly felt sad to leave. This hostel should also be awarded for the cleanest kitchen on the hostel circuit 😊

As I checked in Patrick gave me a tour around and introduced me to all the other hostel guests. This hostel has a real community feel to it as everybody knows everybody and hang out together. The night I was staying one of the hostel workers had his birthday and they invited all the hostel guests to hang out. I wish I could've stayed for more than 1 night, will definitely be returning!

Overall our stay was amazing! The staff were super friendly and helpful when we needed help on where to go on a night out. We did end up staying in the bar the whole night but the thought was there. The hostel was really well equipped and some free to use stuff in the kitchen which is always super helpful. Also have to say that they have the best showers ever! Huge thank you to David and Patrick who are a real credit to the hostel. If we’re ever back in York we will be sure to stay.

The check-in process is smooth. The staff is friendly and helpful at all. The facilities in the hostel is quite new and good to use including bathroom and kitchen facilities. There’s bar and lounge which makes you enjoy football or movies at night. Several games like Chess could be playing in the common area. The location of the hostel is not too good as there’s no supermarket near the hostel. That’s really a good experience for me!

Fantastic stay at the Astor. The staff were friendly and chatty, instantly felt a homely and comfortable vibe. Easy walk from the station and into central York. Would definitely stay again and would recommend for anyone looking for somewhere to stay in York! Small recommendation would be to have some lamps in dorm rooms rather than just one overhead light.
