Summary of traveller reviews

Athens Backpackers in Athens offers a fantastic location, putting you right by the Acropolis and metro. Guests praise the clean rooms, friendly staff, and the great rooftop bar with amazing views. Some mention the beds could be more comfortable and the rooms a bit small, but overall it's a highly recommended spot for travellers.

Great location, bit lackluster overall and there are simple things which could make a big difference. The signature "pod" beds are not anything special and the top bunk lacks a handle to grab on to above the ladder so its truly quite challenging to enter and exit. Balcony was nice at least. Didn't get to have breakfast or see roofbar due to renovation so that might be tarnishing my score. Not a social vibe at all

Good location but thatโ€™s kind of it. Description says itโ€™s 24 hour reception but showed up late at night and no one there, was made to walk down to road to another place to call someone, coming in middle of night alone and no one there is very unsettling in Athens. Staff didnโ€™t seem to care so wasnโ€™t impressed. Rooms were tiny but it was fine for what it was. The top bunks you could barely climb up, beds uncomfortable. Not had these problems at any other hostels, Iโ€™ve been travelling for months.

Positives: location, staff, security, breakfast, luggage storage Negatives: no hair dryer as advertised, no kitchen as advertised- no stove or fridge, only microwave and mini fridge for the whole hostel. Plus access to it is limited to 8 am to 11 pm, so if you need access early, it is not available. The lock on the locker in my room assigned to me was broken, so i could not use it. Drunk guys coming in late into the room and snoring loudly, impossible to sleep

Hostelworld says

"Athens Backpackers was completely renovated from top to bottom in June 2021. It now has a 2 level Roof Bar called 'Sunnies' with unbeatable views of the Acropolis. And a downstairs lobby bar and co working space with a meze eatery called 'The Local' serving local food and drinks all day and night. All rooms, bars and spaces at the property have 200MBPS hi-speed WiFi. All shared rooms have PODS with individual lights and charging stations. We have completely contactless check in/out and our door locks are covid proof and operated by your smart phone."
