My experience at Banana Bungalow was fantastic! I've stayed in many hostels around Europe but this was my first hostel experience in the US and I would never forget it. The staff was amazing, the bathrooms and rooms were clean. On our first night we attended an event organized by the hostel where we payed only $10 per person and had unlimited drinks at the bar while meeting people from all around the word. We made friends and created lifelong memories!

The staff were really lovely and helpful. The place itself had a great industrial kitchen, multiple bathrooms, pool and pingpong tables, a bar down stairs, a small "gym", and 2 patios. There was a very inclusive and inviting environment with plenty of activities to partake in each night. Really close to the bus stop and supermarkets. What I didn't like was the abundance of single use plastic. Especially for a fully equipped kitchen. Breakfast was OK, bread and cereal sometimes yoghurt.

    Very Good

Was there for a total of 3 nights last week (October) , in the mix 6 beds dorm; quite centered , free parking (first come first serve , had to park outside just once) , nice young stuff, easy breakfast included & they organize events there or at the sister location in Hollywood (I liked that location too, might be even better ) ; it’s not the newest establishment but I wasn’t that much inside during the day, just pretty much to crash at night; they have common areas and computers In case.

    Very Good

It was in a great location! Breakfast was good (cereal/ toast/ oatmeal). The coffee all day is a bonus! But when we got there to check in it didn’t feel warm or welcoming. Guess they had a flood that day alone with something else so seemed a bit stressed from staff. Then got to room to find the beds were not ready, staff just pulled the old bedding off and said ok. There was sand all over it but an easy fix. Shuttle to the beach was canceled, the night activity was cancelled. No atmosphere

To be honest, Banana Bungalow is not like The HI chain of hostels. The vibe is very different. The toilets and rooms are not as clean. The floors are dirty and dusty and it seems like the Housekeeping will not clean the shared rooms (the room with 16 people staying) and will only clean the private rooms instead. Location wise it is ok. Couple of food and coffee options nearby. Hostel breakfast was just bread and cereal and some spread. Don’t expect a hot breakfast. Overall it’s a value for money

Unfortunately it was one of the dreariest hostels I’ve been in. The rooms also had a super funky smell and my hostel roommates turned off the fan, making it even stuffier. The social atmosphere was lacking and there was even a family with a child which was kind of not what I was expecting at a hostel. I think it did the trick for sleeping but I wish I had only booked one night there instead of two.

I did not have a good experience at the Banana Bungalow. I have stayed at many hostels and this was definitely one of the worst. It was an old run down building. The room was dirty and smelly. The bathroom was dirty. Overall I did not feel comfortable and decided not to stay the second night. I asked at the counter several times to speak with the manager, even coming back the next day. I left my phone number but she was never there when I stopped by and never called me to follow up.

Arrived to a cold reception by the staff at the front desk, which didn’t make us feel welcomed after the long journey we had had to get there. Hallways have no atmosphere & felt like walking through a dingy hospital, and our 6 bed dorm was very basic, with dirty used tissues and other items from a previous guest left on the top bunk shelves. The floors and bathroom at least cleaned daily, but v surprised this hostel has the high rating that it does, as some of the staff were unhelpful and rude.

Earlier in the day another guest threatened to hit me. If they can't be conducting themselves civil why r they in here. We can eat a Here right? She was staring at a lobster plate I just finished. And started issues. I don't know where she gets her food. But it's not my problem . she gets upset gawking at someone's food like a beggar.
