Property Description

Far from the madding crowds and barely touched by the hand of man, all of the resort rooms are dotted along three unspoiled beaches, within walking distance of pristine coral reefs in protected marine parks. With visiting manta rays (seasonal May-Oct) as your neighbours and billions of stars overhead at night, you’ll be guaranteed some of the finest natural experiences that Fiji has to offer.

Barefoot Manta Island lies on the secluded volcanic island of Drawaqa, in the Southern Yasawa Islands of Fiji. The stunning coral gardens right off any of the three beaches are some of the best in Fiji.

Experience a new adventure every day! Swim with manta rays, snorkel, trek overland, visit islands and traditional villages, go fishing, or experience some of the best dive sites in the Yasawa Islands. Tick that bucket list off - if you have always wanted to dive but never had the chance. Now and here is the time to take this opportunity with our experienced dive crew . Each afternoon and into the evenings take part in sunset swims, volleyball matches, star-gazing, and nightly entertainment - all part of the fun!

Barefoot Manta offers stunning coral gardens right off the beach where you can snorkel, kayak and swim with the local manta rays or spend a few lazy hours alternating between the hammock and lagoon.

The resort offers a variety of clean, comfortable accommodation from twin-share waterfront bures (beach huts) built and thatched in traditional style, to deluxe 4 sleeper dorms. Showers and toilets are communal with cool fresh water. Our Beachfront Safari and Beachfront Family rooms have their own bathrooms. Linen is supplied.

Please note that a mandatory resort package of FJ$105 per person, per night will be charged on the island. This includes 3 Pacific Island-style meals per day, Wi-Fi and non-motorised water sports equipment - excluding dive.

The Resort has a low-impact environmental policy. Where possible our aim is to preserve the natural environment, maintain an authentic Fijian experience and replace 21st Century noise with the silence of the stars. The resort operates on limited 24 hour power sources. Energy efficient systems are used to blend with the natural environment. View House Rules

The island was absolutely gorgeous and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. The dorm rooms were really nice and clean. Probably one of my favorite hostel experiences. Also we got to see the manta rays and it was an incredible experience.

This island was really special, it felt as though you were staying at someone’s home. Shared rooms were lovely, food was great and the staff were always smiling. If I had any issue it would be that a hot shower might have been nice, but that’s minor. And perhaps some shaded seating on the beach. I’d recommend Barefoot Manta to everyone visiting Fiji.

We got to see Manta Rays!!! Diving was great, decent food, lovely staff and the beach bungalows are good value for the sea view and extra comfort you get. Would highly recommend in any trip around the Yasawa island group.

Amazing stay here! The staff is absolutely lovely, and goes the extra mile to make you feel at home. Down side is the dive center. It’s is really a joke. 45min dives, even though my tank was still full. When I asked why The answer was: « it’s company policy » which I have never heard before. Would definitely not recommend for experienced divers. The company operates both on Kuata and Manta. Had some really nice proper dives in Kuata, but somehow the manta team would go more than 40-45min.

A lovely resort with the most amazing snorkeling. The staff are 10/10 and will make an effort to remember your name and have a chat with you. Try to stay here on a Saturday night as they have Fiji night with traditional lovo and Fijian dancing. The dorms look right onto the beach! Very clean toilets and showers.

    Fabulous

Really enjoyed my stay, the mandatory meal plan doesn’t include drinks which, in the heat, can feel a bit cheeky but overall the facilities, rooms and staff were great. I would definitely recommend staying on the island and taking the time to explore the awesome reef they have on their doorstep.

Barefoot Manta is a lovely place! It has a really homey feel. The staff all know your name and everyone gives you a big Bula! It is really beautiful and the sunset beach is sheltered if it’s windy! Rob the marine biologist does these really interesting talks every day-I learned so much from the two I went to! They also have a FREE intro to snorkeling where Songa takes you out for 45 minutes. Cons: food could have been better for the money, far dorm bathroom is outdated.

1 night only, good place, ok atmosphere and facilities. Highlight was snorling with Mantas. Facilities and atmosphere preferable at Kuata Island, for me.
