Stayed in a private room- really nice! Comfy bed. Wifi was pretty bad. Cool spots to hang out! Loved the art on the walls. Friendly staff. Close to everything downtown. The kittens are super cute!

It's a really nice hostel and in a perfect location, the included breakfast is not worth it, there were problems with the toilet in our room almost always, the room is a bit crowded but there are lovely common areas. Booked for 2 nights but did not extend...

Nice hostel and helpful staff (some of them are quite knowledgeable about hiking trails in the province). Amazing resident cats whom you can pet every day! I was hoping to do some bouldering in the afternoons as the hostel advertises its climbing wall but in practice it is not really functional (only one tiny mat for the entire wall).

At first the hostel seems nice, then you get into your room and you see the awful beds(uncomfortable), windows that has no view and discover that almost every day from 6:30PM to 8:30AM there is no water, at all. You can't brush your teeth, you can't use the bathroom or take a shower. We had to leave early and look for another place to sleep in.

Water didn’t work most mornings I was there. No soap in washrooms and the sink in my dorm room didn’t work either. Hostel was a bit on the dirtier side. Staff was very friendly though.

Hostel is in a good location. Staff especially in the bar and restaurant were friendly and helpful. Food is good as well in the bar. The room we were moved into was a mess and had not been cleaned before we moved in. Toilet roll and soap in toilets was never there. Breakfast in the morning was not available on time and should be earlier as there are early trek pick ups. Ended our stay early and moved hostel.

You should expect to get what you pay for. The location of the Big Mountain hostel in Huaraz is superb. The price is nice and cheap. The place is colorful and decorated with interesting murals. There is free coca tea. That’s about where my praise ends. If you stay here, you should not expect to have: - Attentive, honest, and present staff - Consistent hot water - Functional kitchen appliances - Space for food in fridge - Locked front door - Secure and Locked luggage storage

The Hostel lacks a bit of atmosphere. During our stay the wifi and the socket at each bed didn’t work at all so we couldn’t charge our phone. Also the cleaning lady wakes you up at 9 AM and starts cleaning. On the positive side the hostel is located in the centre and has a big kitchen.

Would not stay here again. It is normal in Huaraz that people will get up at 4 or 5 am for their tour, but then at least oil the doors and make sure they don't close with an incredible loud bang! Also, the hostel did not have water for two nights ... Just imagine the worst for their shared bathrooms (yes... that is how it was) and none can wash their hands or dishes...
