Property Description

Overview
We don’t like to brag but, here at Casa Angel Hostel we’ve been named as Lonely Planet Top Choice for 2018! Having fun is what we do best, with events throughout the week ranging from yoga classes and salsa dancing to free walking tours, barbecues, pizza nights and mezcal tasting.
Stop by the bar for a drink (don’t miss happy hour three times each week!) and take it to a sun-bed on our rooftop terrace. In the morning, the free hot breakfast is a must after a late one the night before.

Location
Find us just three blocks (a 5-minute walk) from the world-famous Santo Domingo Church in the heart of Oaxaca’s downtown area – a World Heritage City. To explore the town, just grab your shopping bag for the 10-minute walk to the city centre. The food market is also a block away for local produce. Looking for the ultimate Insta story? Head to the 2,500-year-old ruins of Monte Alban (30 minutes away). Flying in from Oaxaca International Airport? The easiest way to reach us is to grab a taxi or a shuttle –it’s a 30 minute journey.

Rooms
Our modern hostel has cool POD-style beds in the deluxe and superior dorms (mixed or female-only), with a privacy curtain or sliding door for quieter nights. Want more space? Go for a private room that has either a shared bathroom or en-suite. You’ll get a bed with a comfy orthopaedic matress complete with fresh sheets, a reading light and plug –some private rooms also have a balcony or terrace.

Extras and activities
Mix with other travelers in the kitchen over a coffee, or in the common area watching Netflix. Our 24-hour reception (with English-speaking staff) is always open for checking in, and the travel desk will book you on exciting trips. You’ll also get a free city map. Use our free Wi-Fi and computers to post your most arty snaps of the archaeological ruins. View House Rules

Great location and really cool hostel. Staff are really helpful and beds are super comfy and have USB ports/lights etc. Roof terrace is great and yoga in the morning was fun. Breakfast was brilliant - lots of choice and variety. Would 100% stay again.

Really nice location with an amazing rooftop terrace. The staff was super friendly and the hostel is offering various activities throughout the day including a free walking tour. It's perfectly located and I would definitely go there again.

Really great hostel. We stayed in the three bed dorm and it was perfect. Modern, clean, curtain for privacy and affordable. Really recommend you do the walking tour with the hostel, takes you to some great local spots for eating.

This is a fantastic hostel, super clean and well organised. The roof top terrace was great for relaxing after a day of exploring. The long list of activities run by the hostel mostly my donation was a great way to meet people as well and learn more about the cities food, culture and of course mezal! We won’t recommend the waterfall tour unless you speak very good Spanish. It is run by a different tour company and is very touristy with a lot of extra charges once on the bus.

Loved both my stays at Casa Angel. It's a lovely hostel, really nice feel to it, super staff, great breakfast, clean, comfy beds (love the curtains round them), and a really nice group of people staying there on both my stays. If you're an older traveller, don't be put off by the Youth Hostel reference in their name! Would totally recommend

I enjoyed my stay at Casa Angel - the beds were great, I really liked the privacy curtains, night light, and outlet. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The location was solid and the staff were helpful - not particularly friendly but I didn’t mind at all.

Nice hostel but it is a little over priced. We stayed in a private room. This was very clean, bed was ok. The stuff: was really helpful and they helped us to organize the tour to hierve el agua. The kitchen is perfect to cook, you have everything you need. The terrace is the best of the hostel. Here you can relaxe from your trips and enjoy some drinks.

Not worth the price. No blankets on the bed, you have to ask. Hot water between certain hours, again you have to ask if you want to shower outside of these times. Incredibly noisy until 2am at night due to bar right next door blaring music and karaoke, especially in 10 bed dorm. Staff were very understanding and nice and allowed me to cancel my remaining reservation. Atmosphere was lacking as common areas don't really facilitate socialising. Bar is very basic. Pretty disappointed overall.

Think we got here during a lul. Definitely wasn't the social hostel we thought it would be. Staff were average, not sure if we offended them in some way but we got the vibe we were of huge inconvenience to them by being there. None of the scheduled hostel events ran, bar tender was absent for most of happy hour, they did recommend some local restaurants for us. A shame as the hostel and facilities were really nice and clean. Lockers are too small for bags but the room is very spacious.
