Property Description

‘Chern’ is Thai for ‘invite’. Yes, we obviously want to invite you to stay at our property. But there’s more to it than that. From the beginning, we would like to offer you a memorable stay with us as part of your trip. At our property, we will provide you with ample opportunity to learn about our rich cultural heritage. That’s right, we want to ‘chern’ you to come and learn about our Thai culture at Chern Hostel.

Chern is situated in Sao Ching Cha area, which is a more preserved and peaceful area than the fast-pacing metropolitan side of Bangkok.

Having said that, Chern is easy to get to. It's only fifteen minutes from the skytrain network. Food lovers – either those enjoying epicurean establishments or roadside hashery, can wander around blindfolded and still find oneself a pretty good meal. It is about ten minutes to several tourist attractions such as the Wat Phrakaew Temple, Khao Sarn Road, so you are close enough to the cheering crowd but still enjoy enough distance from it to get yourself a good sleep.

One of the most interesting ways to learn about a culture is through idioms and proverbs. That’s why you will find them along the walls, next to bunk beds, and other unexpected places in this property. From these phrases, you may come to learn how Buddhism plays a big part in the Thai society or how often animals are referenced. Years ahead, you may forget the elephants you saw; but you will definitely remember the elephants in the idiom. View House Rules

This hostel is amazing! The best thing about this hostel is the staff. They are all very friendly and professional. The rooms and bathrooms are super clean and lovely. We were looking for a quite place to relax in Bangkok and we found it! The only thing I would say is the location is a little far from the new city BUT it’s super close to the old city. It really depends what you are looking for.

Bathrooms were a little outdated and it was a tad loud due to construction happening right next door, but otherwise was absolutely fantastic. Staff was super nice and accommodating, the beds were extremely sturdy in the dormitory style for the top bunk. I’d say the only major downside is that a keycard has to be put in for the AC to work so if you’re traveling alone and no one is already in the room with the AC on, you’ll come in to a very hot room.

It was an excellent place to say as it is close to some of the most important landmarks in Bangkok. Furthermore, the metro line was conveniently close. The highlight is the staff at the service desk which was amazing and extremely helpful in giving us pointers on where to go and what to do.

The room was nice, clean and spacious with air con and an easy to use safe. The staff were very friendly. There was a working lift which was handy as we were staying on the 4th floor. It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room to make coffee and tea. The location was great - 2 mins away from the giant swing and some amazing food places (mostly on dinso road). It was close enough to walk to the Grand palace, what pho and the flower market and to Sam Yot metro. Would recommend.

The staff were super helpful and friendly. Facilities were nice. No real atmosphere, neither in terms of people staying at the Hostel nor the surrounding neighborhood. Both quite dead. WiFi was also unreliable. I had to go get a local SIM card to get work done.

Staff were nice, but there was no atmosphere for younger people. Would be ok for families as saw a few there. Not great considering the price though, and there was no protection from mosquitos, and despite our best efforts (repellant, plug in, bracelets and air con) we got bitten alive. We also got bed bug bites one night so don’t know how often the mattresses are checked. Air con was really noisy also so struggled to sleep at times.

We were charged the full price instead of the price listed on our website email. We alerted this and were told to email. Our emails have gone unanswered. The safe in our room did not work. The atmosphere in the place is pretty dead.
