I had a wonderful week here. The building itself has lots of character and feels much more relaxed and peaceful than many hostels. It was quiet for the most part, the room was clean. The manager and staff were friendly. The only downside is maybe the wifi was a bit spotty in my room. Other than that I can’t complain. The kitchen and roof hang out area were perfect for meeting people. I would highly recommend staying here if you aren’t after a party hostel but still want to meet people.

Really enjoyed my stay at Dorset House. The hostel used a pin door code to get in any entrance which was also used to access wifi (unlimited but quite weak after noon). The guests were overall friendly, was a mixed hat when it came to ages. And the location was great, walking distance to everything and right next to Hagley Park. Would recommend and would go back.

I liked it here - lots of space to hang out, good amount of bathrooms, very friendly staff - location isn’t too bad from the city. I extended my stay twice. Only annoying thing is I don’t think the fridges got cleared out very regularly

Everything about this hostel is lovely except the fact that you cannot move in your bed without waking everyone in the room up because it is so squeaky. The three of us loved the hostel except for the fact that we didn’t get as much sleep as we had hoped.

I really enjoyed my stay at Dorset House. The room was massive and well set out. The bed was comfortable and they had reasonable facilities. The only 2 small things where that our rooms do not have lockers and due to the style of locks in the building, my roommates often left the door unlocked so anyone could walk in. Aside from that, main security was great and I was more than pleased with my stay. :-D

Spent 5 nights here, friendly, staff were great! Kitchen was a tad small, and found it hard to get a cooking slot. Only 10/15 min walk to the Botanical gardens and from there 2 min walk to the information centre. I would definitely stay again!

Had a nice time over New Years, facilities were pretty good and felt welcome. Need to repair the pool table as promoted on here as it's partially destroyed.

Pleasant welcoming, variety of facilities and nice and clean. The atmosphere wasn’t the best but that’s just luck of the draw I guess! Perfect for if you’re starting the kiwi experience in Christchurch
