My wife and I enjoyed our 4 nights in the ensuite double room at the top of 57 steps. We are 75 years old and had to retreat from a wild camping trip in the Cairngorms because of snow. The hostel was great, helpful, friendly staff, interesting other people staying, great location and facilities. This was our first time in Dundee. We found many interesting things to do.

Nice staff, great location, ensuite double was a nice room with good clean bathroom, plenty of hot water, good shower (could use more water pressure in the shower) but the BED was TERRIBLE. Mattress was worn out years ago. They must have found the mattress in a fly tippers dump. There are rough sleepers under bridges in London with better mattresses. The bowl in the middle of the mattress could be lined, filled with water and turned into a Koi pond. 4 nights not a decent nights sleep.

The hostel is in a great location, in the heart of town, just a few walking minutes from the train station. It is an old building on three levels that has been remodeled nicely. The promenade will have many people walking at night making noise after coming from the pub. It’s a pleasant, lively place and earplugs are free. Disturbing is that many smokers are clustered around the front door at anytime, making it difficult to enter and the open staircase is always contaminated with smoke.

Traditional hostel. Better suited to youngsters, too many stairs.

    Very Good

    26 May 2019
The hostel itself was good. I would stay here again. Location was central to shopping etc. Parking was the problem. We parked on street across from hostel and got a ticket. There were no signs saying anything about it being illegal to park where we did. Wound up with a 60£ fine to pay. Now I have to send pictures of where we parked in hope of beating the ticket. Hostel should either give parking passes or tell guests where it is okay to park.

Pretty mediocre hostel. There are no lockers which was a first for me on my trip, so didn't feel like my stuff was secure. Good kitchen though. Decent common areas but the overall atmosphere is pretty dead, but maybe that's just Dundee. Staff was nice. Unfortunately there was a really smelly fat guy in my room there whole time I was there. Tight in the middle of Dundee, so nothing that far, but it's a small town anyway.
