Property Description

Ship ahoy! Welcome to the boat!!
After sailing the seven seas we dropped our anchors in the sparkling, enchanting city of Gent. Life is pretty good in Gent, why wouldn't it be?
The city is fun and relaxed, the people are charming and welcoming, and our boat is eco friendly and unique!

But more importantly, the showers are huge and warm, the beds are big and soft, breakfast is yummie and organic/fair trade, and, hey... you are on a boat!
It's not everyday you can be a pirate, you might as well go for it!! Arrrrr

We are moored on a lazy canal just outside the city center, you can either walk (1 km), or take a tram if your sealegs can't carry you anymore.
Please note that the city tourist tax (3€ pppn) is not included, sorry for that! View House Rules

Ecohostel Andromeda has anchored in the waters of Ghent, welcoming people from all over the globe to stop over with us. When the sun’s out, we love hanging out on the terrace with the barbecue going and a few beers from our honesty fridge. On colder days, warm up in our cosy library or games lounge. We also provide a free organic veggie breakfast every morning.

We’re on a lazy canal lined with lush greenery, yet still close enough to the city centre that you can walk there in about 15 minutes. There’s lots to do – start off with a guided walk after dark to see the city's illuminated buildings reflected on the canals, then head to a waterfront bar for cocktails. If your sea legs can't carry you home, take the tram from the city centre. To reach us from Gent-Sint-Pieters (the main train station), get on tram 4 and hop off at Brugsepoort – we’re just 600m from there. From Gent-Dampoort (the second largest station), take bus 3 to the same stop as before.

Rooms and Dorms

We love being eco-friendly: that’s why your bedroom will have 100% natural mattresses whether you’re in a shared dorm or double room. Being 'eco' doesn’t mean compromising on comfort though – we've got large, hot showers, free linen and towels for hire. You can also pop your backpack in your storage locker when you go out, then come home to get stuck into the latest bestseller under the reading light on your bunk.

Extras and activities

Log onto free Wi-Fi in the common area or choose a board game for entertainment between explorations. For tips on where to go, our staff will gladly share their wisdom – they’ll even have free maps ready for you. City got you hooked? You can stay out till the early hours with key-card access and no curfew. Or, if you fancy a quiet afternoon in, help yourself to free coffee and tea and get to know your fellow guests.

Unique accommodation, walking distance to the city centre and its wonderful restaurants. My stay was comfortable, no-fuss and very quiet. Parking is close by and the owners were really welcoming and helpful. Great value for money!

Loved this hostel! The whole vibe and design of it was so cool. And the fact it was on a boat just made it quite exciting. The rooms were really nice (definitely the nicest we’ve stayed in so far) little bit of a walk into the centre but that’s fine coz you get to see more of beautiful Ghent! We only stayed one night but we definitely want to come back one day :) would highly recommend

Bed bugs!! Place is nice but unfortunately very bad infestation of bed bugs, we had to leave early because I got bit so much. It is also kinda out of City center with nothing much around. Other than that it was a nice hostel.
