Upon arriving Tony, the English speaking owner, sat us down and explained everything about Cuenca. He drew us our own walking tour map that showed us everywhere to go which was really good to do at the end of the free city tour that runs from the main square. We had a delicious vegetarian dinner prepared by the hostel where everyone comes together to share stories and a meal. The beds were very comfortable and warm. Great hot water. Roof top bar was a great place to relax and look over the city

Tony the owner was super friendly and helpful providing great advice and recommendations for the local area. Hostel is clean and in a great location with a really nice terrace. Breakfast, dinner and drink options available. Only minor downside is that wifi only really works on the terrace. Overall a great experience and would stay again for sure!

Had a great time at the hostel, good atmosphere in the relaxed city of Cuenca. The 5-course vegetarian dinner was amazing and the staff knows the area (and in fact pretty much all of south America) very well and is willing to give some advice and help with future trip planning! Small downsides were that the breakfast (which isn't included) wasn't great and that the rooms had no lockers available.

Super super recommended! The location is great and the owner, Tony, is INCREDIBLE! He really cares about his guests and takes time to carefully explain what you can do in Cuenca and even better: He helps you plan your whole Ecuador trip (and also to other countries if required). He helped us a lot and gave valuable insights that made us change our travel route to the better. He is an essential part of why our Ecuador trip was just amazing! 100% recommended! Never hmet such a caring hostel owner!

Arriving at El Cafecito we received a really warm welcome plus cocktail and immediately were given loads of helpful information on the city. The double room was quite basic but had very welcome reliable hot water in the shower. Had to pay to get towels. The roof terrace in the building provides a spectacular view of the city. We enjoyed a Saturday night communal meal there getting to know the other guests over vegan food. Unfortunately during our stay breakfast was not available.
