El Pital is one of those special, amazing places that captures your heart and imagination from the moment you start walking the trail towards the private beach and the common area. The beauty of the surroundings and the amazing energy of the people working there make it easy to stay for another day, a week or even a month and I met several there that had. I know I'll be back.

El pital is incredible! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing. It is off the beaten path but luckily we had ATVs. Mopeds wouldn't do well on the road leading up to it.

EL Pital was an amazing hostel to stay. The hammocks, swings, fairy lights, yoga, and healthy food all brought a relaxing atmosphere. I stayed din the 10 room bunks, and it has amazing to have open windows and feel like I was in nature, but securely under a roof. The location was close to nice restaurants and I always felt safe with staying at the hostel. I would ALSO 100% recommend taking the Chocolate Tour. It was insightful, fun, and delicious.

Beautiful space amongst nature! Large breezy lofts for dorms. Right on the lake with plenty of hammocks to hang in, chocolate to eat and good people to chat to!

Cool place with awesome views and plenty of chilling areas. Not too much of a vibe though, so not that great for meeting other travellers. Clean enough, but be aware that it is in the jungle, so there are bugs. Staff was helpful, and the mini chocolate tour was interesting.

I really enjoyed my stay at El Pital. It really felt like being close to nature and I loved going to sleep to the sound of the wind and the waves. The outdoor shower was hilarious - favourite moment was when a toad jumped in with me - and I enjoyed the brownies they make! It is obviously quite rustic, but that’s clear from the description. The only downside for me was the lack of choice of food, given how remote it is, and the TINY portion sizes! I was often hungry.

It really does feel like paradise! The location on the lake is magical, you can swim everyday, free yoga everyday, food is delicious and I’d really recommend the cacao tour. :) The main down side is there are so many staff and volunteers it feels very cliquey - almost like the guests are an inconvenience. Not great for a solo traveller. The good outweighs the bad but it’s a shame they’re not more welcoming as it could be perfect!

    Very Good

Definitely a vibey hostel. Cool people, beautiful view, right on the lake. I feel like it’s in kind of a difficult location to easily get around to other things you want to see, and taxis get quite expensive. Claire (the yoga instructor) was PHENOMENAL. So good. The cleanliness in the hostel was a bit of an issue. Lots of spiderwebs on the bed and right by you while you were sleeping. Would’ve been an easy fix if they were just wiped down. Still a cool place to stay.

It was a great experience to stay there. It has a wild hippie, all natural vegan vibe going on, but I liked it. I thought the rooms could be cleaner, there were spider webs in the rooms, and the floors were dirty, and the door didn't lock at all. I LOVED the Yoga classes. Claire did an AMAZING job! I never have experienced such a Zen zone before, but she helped me feel relaxed, listen to my body, and strengthen and stretch my body in ways that helped me a ton. Loved the chocolate your by Justin!
