Overview

Freshly renovated in 2017, Hi Hostel Bruegel is the perfect spot for you and your mates to have a brilliant time in Brussels. Our friendly hostel has its very own bar, so you can grab a cheeky cocktail whenever you like! We also have a free breakfast so no rumbling stomachs in the morning. Come evening, you can relax in the common room with fellow travellers and watch TV, or head down to the free disco for a fun night of dancing. Our spacious courtyard garden is the place to be if you like to stargaze – spot the constellations as you wind down from a night out.

Location

Landing at Brussels Airport? Jump on the C1 train until you reach Brussels Central Station, and then we're just a 45-minute journey away. If you're after a hostel that's close to the best attractions in the city – you've found it! The Museum of Cocoa and Chocolate is only a 10-minute walk from us, plus the landmark Atomium building in Osseghem Park is close by (about 20 minutes by bus). Fancy picking up some bric-a-brac or souvenirs while you're here? Check out the cool flea markets in Marolles – just a 10-minute stroll from us.

Rooms and Dorms

We've got male and female-only dorms to choose from in our cosy hostel. They're all key-card accessible (that won't stop working if they touch your phone!), and come with rolled out fresh linen each day so you don't need to carry sheets around. Private rooms with en-suites are also available.

Extras and activities

We have loads of handy extras to make your stay nice and relaxed – we've got a vending machine if everything's shut, and our free maps are a good call if you're new to the area. And you can leave your luggage with us when you check out, so you can make the most of your last day hands-free (you'll need them to make sure that chocolate tastes as good as you thought).

Seeing some negative reviews on TripAdvisor, I was worried about the quality of the hostel but it was renovated in 2017, so the building is new and clean, the WiFi fast and free, and the breakfast large and free. The rooms and facilities were all large and looked just like the pictures on the website. My only gripe would be that you have to carry your own sheets up to your room and then bring them down but other than that, it was a great stay. Would come back again.

Clean place, walking distance to most of the city attractions. Room/4 bed dorm slightly claustrophobic, but I might be spoiled by a previous dorm :D. Good breakfast. Would come back. :)

Great breakfast included in price and staff very helpful. Only complaint is that the beds were a little small for anyone over 6ft tall

Always love the free breakfasts at HI hostels. They are clean and safe. It's not really a great place for meeting people though, it's very quiet and not much going on.

    Fabulous

I stayed for one night in a private room. There were 3 beds- 1 bunk bed and 1 single with a private shower and sink. For only being there one night, the hostel served it's purpose and it was a comfortable stay. They served a light breakfast, which was nice. My only negative was that the floor we were staying on smelled awful- like sewage. It made going to the toilets uncomfortable and we had to leave our window open for the day to air our room out, which worked. Overall, it was a good stay.

Staff was nice. The room was ok,but the shower in the room was cold. Terrible! And in the mornings a bunch of kids yelling everywhere... The location was good. And average continental breakfast.

Cute place with a nice common area and very close to downtown. However, the showers were horrible (needed to constantly press the button to get the water on and wave your hand to keep the light on) and the WiFi didn’t work with little promise of help. Wasn’t completely detrimental just very annoying.

    Very Good

this hostel was fine. most major things are a 7-15 minute walk including the train station. it was fine for a quick stay, but don’t expect to get much sleep. not only could i hear the man in the room next to me sneezing, but this hostel allows school groups. after 1am nobody is on duty so teenagers have free reign of the halls to yell and do teenager stuff. didn’t bother me too much but i probably wouldn’t have stayed here any longer than the 2 nights I did.
