Overview

In a 200-year-old building, Home Lisbon Hostel is a super cool base in Portugal's most vibrant city. When you're not strolling the cobbled streets, soak up some vitamin D on our patio or lounge around in our comfortable living room. Join us during the day for walking tours that survey some of the city's most interesting buildings, then come along at night for a pub crawl. Our dining room has a bar, too, so you can have a drink with your new travel buddies before partying on the famous Pink Street.

Location

We're in the famous Baixa neighbourhood, the heart of Lisbon – redesigned from scratch after an earthquake destroyed the city's historic centre in the 18th century. Take a 4-minute walk from our front door to reach the outdoor cafés in Praça do Comércio, with its iconic yellow buildings and view across the river. Our nearest metro stop, Baixa-Chiado, is a 4-minute walk away – hop on the blue or green lines to nip around the city. If you're flying into Lisbon Airport, you can reach us in 45 minutes on public transport.

Rooms and Dorms

Our dorms (mixed and female-only) all have en-suite bathrooms with a shower, and our female-only dorms also come with hairdryers to make getting ready fast and easy. All of our dorms have storage lockers for your bags, plus we've got air con to help you sleep comfortably during our hot summer months. Check into a private room if you're a light sleeper.

Extras and activities

We want to show you the best of Lisbon, so we host lots of events to immerse you in the city's history and culture. We also give out free city maps to make sure you don't get lost wandering up and down the seven hills. Foodie? Our nightly dinners are the best way to taste classic Portuguese home-cooking – lovingly made by the owner's mama. Afterwards, head to our games room or stroll uphill to the Bairro Alto, one of Lisbon's best going-out districts.

Being welcomed by Fernanda was a joy. She sat down with me to detail where to enjoy Lisbon and how to enjoy this new Home for 36 hours or so. All of the staff offered great service and remedied any situation quickly. The 4-bunk room was small but the view and breeze was wonderful, along with the most solid, wooden bunks and lockable storage. Bathrooms and showers are so chic and clean. Living and dining areas and bar room are historic and very relaxed. Mama’s dinner...perfecto!

I loved my stay at Home Lisbon! Home Lisbon provides the perfect atmosphere for solo travelers or those traveling with friends. There is an optional home cooked dinner every night for 10 euros where everyone sits together and talks, several day trips and walking tours, and a pub crawl every night. Most people socialize in the bar area but the bedrooms are on a different floor so there is no noise issue. Everything is very clean and the hostel is close to everything in Lisbon.

Amazing hostel that accomodates different types of travellers. Although the room I stayed in was slightly small and barely fitted 6 people, it was cozy enough. I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner at Mama's kitchen and the Sintra tour (the guide brought us to off-the-beaten paths and beautiful beach!).
