Property Description

2 minutes from Place D'Jeema el Fna, Hostel Riad Marrakech Rouge would like to assault the senses of those arriving from grey skies with a family run backpackers hostel so colourful it will make your eyes tingle; so kind and friendly it will refresh your spirit in a place where the coffee is so spicy, sweet (and free) that your taste-buds will buzz with excitement (and the caffeine!), and the possibilities will feel endless

Hostel Riad Marrakech Rouge is the bright, soulful home for down to earth, adventurous, happy travellers with an open mind and heart, ready to extend their comfort zone and experience the sparkly maze of Marrakech and beyond.

There is a choice of clean, comfortable private rooms and mixed dormitories to rest your head. Relax in one of the many communal areas; a rainbow rug draped, pumpkin adorned (yes - it is Berber decoration) courtyard lounge where breakfast is served and entertainment is spontaneous. Share the sun on the terrace with new friends and the odd inquisitive tortoise, or seek the shade in the Berber tent with a view (and satellite TV). Defying the winding staircases, our staff will bring you tea, coffee and shisha all day and all night long; the views are amazing and the company is marvellous!

If you feel able to tear yourself away, we can organise excursions from Sahara Rouge at a moments' notice and our staff know the city of Marrakech better than any Google search! If you fancy yourself as a bit of a chef, we can offer cookery courses from bargaining for tomatoes in the vegetable souq, to a finished tagine to be shared (it is after all a hostel!)

Hostel Riad Marrakech Rouge welcomes you to come and stay with us; leave your comfort zone and your facebook account at home, be happy and inspired, learn about Morocco from our incredible staff, meet others, and the enjoy the wonderful atmosphere; all the components that make a hostel a hostel and not a hotel.

Breakfast is included within the price of the rooms.

Overview

Renowned for its relaxing atmosphere and devoted team, Hostel Riad Marrakech Rouge will make you feel at home from the get-go. While you're here, tuck into our free daily breakfast in our courtyard lounge or top up your tan on the terrace. Need a break from the sun? Seek the shade in our Berber tent with a view of the city and a satellite TV. We can also organise once-in-a-lifetime excursions to the Sahara for you, and our staff know the city better than any Google search if you need recommendations!

Location

You can find us in the historic medina quarter of Marrakech, only a 2-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa, the city's main square. Marrakech's souks – traditional North African markets – are also only minutes away, so whether you're looking for harem pants or henna tattoos, it's all on our doorstep. From Marrakech Menara Airport, a taxi to the hostel will only take you around 15 minutes, so you'll be with us in no time.

Rooms and Dorms

You can choose between our comfy private rooms or friendly mixed dorms – all bright, colourful, and traditionally decorated for an authentic Moroccan experience. Linen and towels are provided for free in all the rooms, and you'll get a large locker to keep your stuff safe. Hot showers will help you stay fresh throughout your stay, and we have plenty of blankets to keep you warm in the winter months!

Extras and activities

See yourself as a bit of a chef? We host cookery courses, involving everything from bargaining for tomatoes in the vegetable souks to sharing the finished tagine with your fellow travellers. Reception is open 24/7, so we're always here to help, and if you're in need of some down-time, you can take a look at our board games and DVDs. We don't set a curfew at the hostel, either, which is handy if you're keen to experience the unique nightlife of Marrakech, like Ville Nouvelle's bars or Gueliz's late-night clubs.

Great location near everything you would want. From the moment I arrived all the staff did everything they could to make my stay as comfortable as it could be. Zakaria and Mehdi are one of the coolest and friendliest guys you’ll ever meet. This hostel has a rooftop to enjoy the sun and get some quiet time. I highly recommend this place and I can’t wait to visit again and hang out with zakaria and Mehdi.

This hostel is truly amazing! Mahdi and Zac are the best staff anyone could ask for! The place is incredible. I have been to several riads, and this one ia the best. It is the cheapest, located right in the center, and attracts the most interesting people. It was also the first hostel in Africa!

Hostel Riad Marrakesh Rouge was amazing. The staff were all very friendly, honest, and helpful. The hostel itself was beautiful and and had many areas to socialize and meet other travelers. One thing special about this hostel is the atmosphere. I was there only a few days but met so many people who I quickly became friends with and explored the city. Everyone was amazing and very open to making friends. If you are looking for a friendly place where you can meet other travelers this is the spot.

I had a great stay at the riad marrakech rouge hostel last week! Zakaria and Farid made me feel very welcome and were helpful with answering my questions. The hostel is centrally located in the medina and it is easy to access the main sites from there.

The staff was amazing. Only downside was out of their control. It was the local boys charging to walk you to the hostel. This is a s**m and should not be entertained. They only use intimidation tactics and are not a threat for violence. Just a terrible welcome to the city. There us even a sign above the hostel door that states not to pay them.

Honestly, this place was just as expected from what I saw in the pictures and read in reviews. The room was a bit dingy, the sheets looked unclean, really loud due to poor noise control, but ultimately it was a cheap place to stay. Tbh, I don’t know why it’s rated so highly. I honestly think their reviews are rigged. The only good thing about this place is the staff. But personally, I would try a different hostel next time. OK for solo travelers but this place attracts large groups more.
