    Very Good

I tried calling the reception 30mins prior to my arrival and no one would pick up. There were no amenities provided which doesn't justify the price paid for a double bed (in reality two single beds) private room with a shared bathroom. The view was great though.

This hostel is soooooo far away from everything and the shuttle bus does not run as often as it should. Also be aware that you have to pay to be a part of the YHA Taiwan club to stay here. So your stay will be expensive. There also isn’t much of an environment. Definitely not a good place for a solo traveler.

I did not particularly like staying at this hostel. I realize I signed up to stay at a hostel so inconveniently locates But I didn’t realize how annoying it would be. I did not realize I had to be a memeber to stay here so that came to me as a surprise when I arrived. The bed was very uncomfortable. I guess I just have stayed at better hostels around the same price point before in more convenient locations. Not a fan of this one but not terrible.

The place is wonderful, it is only a bit far from the center. The main problem is to go out at night, because it will be almost impossible to come back home, not only because it is difficult to reach with the taxi (some taxi drivers even don't want to drive there), but because they close the gates in the late evening (you can still ask to open the gate later, in case you want to enjoy your night in the center). I sincerely had no good feeling with the staff. They were pretty rude by speaking.

Location is fantastic for views. Free shuttle to/from the bottom of the hill is vital! Times for this are limited but cover usual needs. The centre seems to be used often by groups who can sometimes be overwhelming in kitchen (eg) and take over common areas, which are limited. (But the nice terrace compensates IF weather is fine.) Some facilities in need of maintenance and improvements - eg. having to go down stairs, cross the yard and up more stairs to reach the designated washroom was a pain.

Many many many miles from mainland Hong Kong, it requires both a metro and a personal shuttle to get it, the majority of people who stay there are locals taking a sabbatical. It is sleepy, and laid back, and the shuttle ends at a certain time and the gates lock. For a city that is open until late hours of the night this was far from ideal. But otherwise it was pleasant, and the facilities clean. The view was fantastic!!
