Hostelworld says

The staff of the Lisboa Central Hostel have an extremely high rating on Hostelworld, no doubt due to their friendliness and vast knowledge of Lisbon. They also make free soup every day as well as free milkshakes on Mondays, while one Hostelworld user said the free breakfast of fruit pancakes was the 'icing on the cake' of a 'faultless' stay. We like that they offer lots of little extras to their guests, from cheap sangria and beer to pub crawls and free popcorn on movie nights.

Overview

Experience the best of Lisbon at our family-run joint – Lisboa Central Hostel. You’ll be treated to movie nights with free popcorn, free soup every day (that means more cash for vino) and our friendly staff really know their stuff. Make new memories and friends at events like our free walking tours, pub crawls and Milkshake Mondays (yes, you read that right). We’re budget-friendly too, with free breakfast every day (don’t miss the fruit pancakes) as well as sangria happy hour and cheap beer at the bar. Have your free tea and coffee outside on our sun-soaked terrace, or sit down to a PlayStation game in the common room.

Location

When it comes to location, the clue is in our name: we're in the centre of the action. We’re on Avenida da Liberdade, which is dotted with cafés, bars and boutiques. Hop on the metro (Marquês de Pombal station is 4 minutes away) to tick must-sees off your list, like the photogenic Basílica de Estrela, just 18 minutes away. From the airport, take the metro towards São Sebastião, change at Saldanha to the yellow line (direction 'Rato'), and get off at Marquês de Pombal (it's a 50-minute journey).

Rooms and Dorms

Rest your head in one of our comfy rooms, some of which have en-suite bathrooms. Double and twin privates are perfect for couples, while mixed or female-only dorms are a budget-friendly (and social) option. We've designed mini staircases between the bunks so you can get to your bed easily, even in the dark. You'll also get a locker for your stuff, plus free linen.

Extras and activities

Our staff are on-hand at reception 24/7 to share their expertise – make sure to ask for your free city map! If you’re staying in on the odd rainy day, cook up your favourite dishes in our kitchen, have a Skype session on one of our free computers or binge a Netflix show using our free Wi-Fi.

Lisboa Central was a great place to stay! I arrived on Friday, which happens to be their 1 euro sangria night- a great way to meet the other residents, who form a fun & diverse population. The hostel was a bit loud at night due to its location near the main strip in the city & because residents were up and about, but it was nothing intolerable or way out of the ordinary from other hostels.

Wonderful staff Very Reasonable rates for private room Lots of amenities and hangout spaces Soup and tapas night and breakfasts were appreciated Love the abundance of tourism info on the walls and the helpful staff Great vibes, lively and social but not a “party hostel” (although they sell beer and wine!!) 100% recommend!

I did not like it. the common rooms are too small for the amount of people. it is built to look nice in pictures, not be nice to stay in. there were too many staff in a small space. they had nothing to do either, there were often 5-6 staff around the common areas trying to look busy. as I like to hang out in hostels, negative review for me. others may like it as a base for lisbon Plus side: very clean, good rooms, great kitchen TLDR: the hostel has no chill and takes itself too seriousl

Lisboa Central Hostel says

We're a small hostel that likes to treat every guest as part of our family. The Portuguese are known for their hospitality so we treat them according to Portuguese traditions, call them by their names and try to make them feel at home. I think that someone that's travelling likes to feel welcomed and likes to find a home-like atmosphere that makes them feel comfortable. We have daily activities to encourage interaction amongst the guests - things like sangria happy hour to some liquor, wine and Portuguese food tastings, movie nights, milkshakes for the hot days, hot drinks for the cooler days, and cupcakes and soups. Plus there's movies, cards, video games and pub crawls. It's pretty entertaining around here.
We're in Marques de Pombal, the centre of the city, a few minutes away from downtown and the historic area, and a short bus ride from Belem and metro trip from Nation's Park. When people ask me what they should do here, I usually say that Lisbon is a city for walkers - its typical neighbourhoods are inviting for long walks and every day you discover something new.
