Hostelworld says

Lisbon Lounge Hostel was rated the best small hostel in the world at the 2011 Hoscars and it's not difficult to see why. The hostel offers bike rentals, free fado and walking tours and the rooms have been decorated by local artists. The most popular feature seems to be the hostel's nightly three-course Portuguese meal, served with wine and bread for only â'¬9. One Hostelworld traveller told us dinner was 'a perfect opportunity to have good food for a great price and meet new people in a nice atmosphere'.

Property Description

With supreme comfort, cleanliness, style and security, the multi-award-winning Lisbon Lounge Hostel is the perfect place to call home during your visit to our fantastic city.

The LLH was the first hostel in Lisbon, opened in 2005 as a project by four Portuguese. From the beginning the concept was simple: to give backpackers a first-class Lisbon experience at budget prices. Through the years we have continued to improve our service, and we were recently voted the best Small Hostel in the World 2010 and 2011 by Hostelworld.

Our services include free walking tours, free nightlife tours, bicycle rental, mini bar and free coffee and tea all day. For a low cost you can join other guests for our three-course hostel dinner, cooked by our talented Portuguese chef. We also offer cheap van tours (during summertime) to the romantic historical town of Sintra and the local beaches.

Were located in the heart of Lisbon's historic Baixa district, the main tourist center of the city. The hostel is just around the corner from the iconic Rua Augusta, a grand and beautiful mosaic-tiled pedestrian street capped by a colossal arch. A short stroll will also take you to the charming suburb of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon and the home of Fado, the music of Portugal. At night you can walk to the famous Bairro Alto, a labyrinth of bars and street parties. All forms of public transport, including the airport shuttle and the Cascais beach train line, are within very short walking distance of our hostel.

With so much on offer, you will have everything you need to have a comfortable, memorable and fun stay in Lisbon. We look forward to welcoming you to the city we love!

Please note:  from the 1st of January 2019 a city tax of 2€ per person per night will be charged on top of your bill and it should be paid on site. This tax is charged to guests aged 13 and older. It is subject to a maximum amount of 14€ per guest. View House Rules

I loved this hostel! It has the perfect location and was walkable to most major sites and located near a train and metro station for things that are further away. The living room was so cute, the 10 person room was huge! We had a sitting area and huge lockers with included locks to keep our stuff. I was skeptical because I saw a review that mentioned bed bugs, and I am unfortunately very familiar with those as I work in healthcare and I did not see any evidence of bugs! 10/10

Excellent staff and location! Wifi a bit spotty in our private room on the 4th floor. But we had a really nice balcony overlooking one of the main thoroughfares. Location very central; next to Alfama. Very very clean!

Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Located right in the city centre and not far from the metro. Beds were quite comfy and rooms were large. I would stay here again!

I really enjoyed my stay at Lisbon Lounge Hostel! The staff were super helpful and friendly to talk with. Breakfast was included which was a nice bonus. We did the free walking tour which was a great way to see the city as well. I stayed in an 8 person dorm- the pillows were super thin and there was contraction happening outside which made it impossible to sleep (at no fault to the hostel) but the beds were spaced out nicely and there were plenty of showers/ restrooms for the guests.

Very good hostel. Amazing location and amenities. good activities, but not sure if they were worth €65, but that is an outside company so...take that not on the hostel. Sister hostel seemed more social than this one but that might have been the people. However, I definitely recommend this hostel, it was great and beyond expectations. Would absolutely stay here if I return to Lisbon.

Those flights of stairs are no joke. Luckily the staff was kind enough to bring mine to my room. Crepes/eggs were freshly made so I’d you want to quickly eat and leave by 9, that’s a stretch to get. They have a Sintra tour which I recommend to solo travelers so you can meet people from this hostel and the sister hostel. Staff overall was very informative and the rooms were super clean. Loved the view from the balcony but all the rooms can walk to it so lock your valuables!

This property has bed bugs and staff didn’t seem to care. I was in a six bed room but only myself and 2 other guests the two guests woke in night with bites on arms face etc. They reported to front desk and were told to move to next room big hit to wake me and alert me to the problem. Turns out the next room also has bed bugs! We found exoskeletons one sheets, baseboards and walls. I believe this is evidence of previous fumigation for bed bugs.

Lisbon Lounge Hostel says

I'd have to say the most unique thing about our hostel is our three big lounges and the graffiti walls in every lounge. What also makes us special is that we offer an amazing and inspired environment about which guests can build their travel experience. They can easily meet new friends, form lasting life-time bonds, and feel at home without ever having to worry about the hassle or stress that can accompany traditional hotel travel. We hear from a lot of our guests that what they like the most about us is the familiar feeling of hanging out at home with friends. When they aren't out trekking the town they can meet other guests over our wonderful dinners, participate in one (or many) of our free day and night tours or sip on a signature house cocktail at our bar.
