Hostelworld says

Lisbon Lounge Hostel was rated the best small hostel in the world at the 2011 Hoscars and it's not difficult to see why. The hostel offers bike rentals, free fado and walking tours and the rooms have been decorated by local artists. The most popular feature seems to be the hostel's nightly three-course Portuguese meal, served with wine and bread for only â'¬9. One Hostelworld traveller told us dinner was 'a perfect opportunity to have good food for a great price and meet new people in a nice atmosphere'.

Property Description

With supreme comfort, cleanliness, style and security, the multi-award-winning Lisbon Lounge Hostel is the perfect place to call home during your visit to our fantastic city.

The LLH was the first hostel in Lisbon, opened in 2005 as a project by four Portuguese. From the beginning the concept was simple: to give backpackers a first-class Lisbon experience at budget prices. Through the years we have continued to improve our service, and we were recently voted the best Small Hostel in the World 2010 and 2011 by Hostelworld.

Our services include free walking tours, free nightlife tours, bicycle rental, mini bar and free coffee and tea all day. For a low cost you can join other guests for our three-course hostel dinner, cooked by our talented Portuguese chef. We also offer cheap van tours (during summertime) to the romantic historical town of Sintra and the local beaches.

Were located in the heart of Lisbon's historic Baixa district, the main tourist center of the city. The hostel is just around the corner from the iconic Rua Augusta, a grand and beautiful mosaic-tiled pedestrian street capped by a colossal arch. A short stroll will also take you to the charming suburb of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon and the home of Fado, the music of Portugal. At night you can walk to the famous Bairro Alto, a labyrinth of bars and street parties. All forms of public transport, including the airport shuttle and the Cascais beach train line, are within very short walking distance of our hostel.

With so much on offer, you will have everything you need to have a comfortable, memorable and fun stay in Lisbon. We look forward to welcoming you to the city we love!

Please note:  from the 1st of January 2019 a city tax of 2€ per person per night will be charged on top of your bill and it should be paid on site. This tax is charged to guests aged 13 and older. It is subject to a maximum amount of 14€ per guest. View House Rules

Top quality hostel! It's located in the best spot in Lisbon, just 5 minutes by foot from the sea, right next to most bars and restaurants, and super easy to reach by public transport. Most iconic spots are near by. Super clean, and by far the best part was the staff.

Solo traveler from U.S./New York. Stayed for 3 nights. Could not have asked for a better hostel experience! The location is priceless- close to restaurants, scenic views, and shopping. Easily accessible from the Meto or carris system. The staff was kind, helpful, and offered to store my luggage both before could check in and after I checked out. Definitely recommend!

The location is hard to beat. Right downtown, within 20 minutes walking to every tourist destination except belem tower. I highly recommend. Staff was wonderful and super helpful, the morning breakfast is pretty bland but it’s free so can’t complain. Check out their free walking tour, it’s very well done! The facilities are very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that it was hard to connect with other travellers

Excellent location and all-around really nice hostel. Clean, tidy, crepes for breakfast! Staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations. Lisbon is relatively small and walkable and LLH's location makes it easy to access almost everywhere by foot! It's in a particularly touristy area - but that's only an issue if you don't ask the staff for food recos! Our 1st night we were too tired to care and spent 37€ (!) on dinner for 2. Next day we had (a tastier) lunch a short walk away for 16 lol

We stayed in a private ensuite room which was perfect, even had a balcony. Location of the hostel is just excellent in walking distance to all the major sites. Staff super friendly and accommodating.. they really made us feel at home. There are plenty of common areas to just chill and relax, or work if need be, and all in all everything is very clean. Kitchen well equipped with everything you might need. We would def. stay again!!! :)

Staff were wonderful and gave great local recommendations for food and Fado. A more laid-back atmosphere (not a party hostel) which we appreciated.

Group of 4 backpackers and booked a private bunk room with en-suite. Highly recommend as the location was perfect and rooms were spacious. Came straight from the airport, close to bus lines and subway. Walking distance to everything was a huge highlight. Delicious free crepes in the morning too! Only disappointment were the beds. They were extremely creeky, sheets were clean but were old so I didn’t sleep under the blankets. Overall, great value and experience!

Lisbon Lounge Hostel says

I'd have to say the most unique thing about our hostel is our three big lounges and the graffiti walls in every lounge. What also makes us special is that we offer an amazing and inspired environment about which guests can build their travel experience. They can easily meet new friends, form lasting life-time bonds, and feel at home without ever having to worry about the hassle or stress that can accompany traditional hotel travel. We hear from a lot of our guests that what they like the most about us is the familiar feeling of hanging out at home with friends. When they aren't out trekking the town they can meet other guests over our wonderful dinners, participate in one (or many) of our free day and night tours or sip on a signature house cocktail at our bar.
