Make Mingle Hostel Kuala Lumpur your home in the city! We've updated this 1920s clubhouse for the 21st century with up-cycled furniture, free Wi-Fi and Mac computers. Come up to the colonial-era rooftop bar to share cocktails with new friends. Hungry? You can sample some of our favourite local dishes in the on-site café. Plus, we'll have a free breakfast waiting on the rooftop terrace when you get back from bargain hunting all night at the night markets.

We're right on the heritage trail through Kuala Lumpur, so think crumbling colonial architecture, cheap street food and colourful markets. You can shop at all hours in the Chinatown Night Market (the shopping streets are a 1-minute walk down Jalan Sultan). To reach us from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, take the 45-minute train to Pasar Seni station, just a 5-minute walk from the hostel. Arriving into the TBS bus station? The SPL line connects you to Plaza Rakyat station in just 13 minutes.

Rooms and Dorms

It's up to you how private you want to be in our dorms – we've fitted every bed with curtains, a bedside lamp and a socket. We do have female-only dorms, but if you're a very light sleeper you might prefer to book one of our private rooms (or the deluxe loft space!). All our beds come with individual lockers and free bed linen, too.

Extras and activities

Excited to discover Malaysian culture? Sign up to one of our events! We run them every weekday and include visits to the Kanching Waterfalls, canopy walks, street food tours and Malaysian cooking nights. Afterwards, test your new cooking skills in the communal kitchen. Full up and ready to chill? Our library is full of quirky original features, so you'll love hanging out here with a book. Our friendly team can often be found there too, so get chatting to discover their favourite drinking spots.

I gave it an "Arts & Culture" b/c the building is so beautiful IMHO. Very knowledgeable and accommodating staff - the wonderful lady at the desk told me 1) where to find a replacement for the glasses I just broke at a ridiculously low price 2) how I could volunteer and get free rent and food for as long as I needed 3) another great hostel with everything they had plus a pool (Mingle 2). Free breakfast. Cafe just downstairs. Great location. Check it out.

Probably the best hostel in the world. Staff is nice, rooms are clean. They even organize a free dinner every night which makes it easy to meet other guests. The rooftop bar was fun and low key. The Hostel also organised a trip to the waterfalls and hot springs, which was really well organised and fun.

So impressed with this hostel! I loved the vibe, loved the rooftop bar and the cafe, and the breakfast was really delicious. I’m sad I couldn’t stay here longer, honestly the best hostel I’ve stayed in Malaysia.

Really good value for money - free breakfast, and many free dinners that you can sign up for. Right in Chinatown, so plenty of good, cheap places to eat. Pasar Seni train station is only a 5 min walk away if you want to visit the centre of KL eg the twin towers. Really helpful friendly staff. Lockers are provided in the rooms. I recommend the deluxe dorm as my travel buddy stayed in the basic dorm and found it a bit cramped. Easy to meet people, with the bar upstairs and hostel events.

hostel is good, comfiest hostel beds ever and lots of privacy. 1 issue is that walls are very thin so i could here the people in the room beside me. washrooms could also really use an upgrade. good location- easy access from airport. free dinner is amazing and makes for super social environment- best hostel for solo travellers. would 100% come back if ever staying in KL again.

Amazing location right in the centre of Chinatown, good connections to public transport that ran straight into other areas such as KLCC and Bukit Bintang. Hostel cafe with free breakfast and 20% off other meals was really good and a nice place to chill. However, the room we originally booked was definitely not the room we received. It was seriously hot, felt like a small prison cell, so much so that my boyfriend was sick. We should have asked to change rooms so not scoring down for it.

Hostel is well located and the Facilities are ok. But the rooms let it down, so small, I’m 5ft10 and I couldn’t lie straight in the bed, The biggest issue is the walls are so thin that you Literally hear everything, people coming in to the hostel not just your room, every tap, every cough, every wee in the toilet or the shower The walls are seriously made of paper.

Excellent breakfast. Some of the staff were very helpful, some very apathetic; the helpful ones spent a lot of time correcting the errors of the apathetic. Group activities were announced, then abruptly canceled. Private rooms were like bizarre solitary confinement cells. Mingle seems to be putting money and effort into its other hostels. This one is best skipped.
