What a quaint, cute hostel! I loved the old timely feel of the place, especial after I learned that it had once been an over 100 year old house! Much of the wood flooring is still from the original building. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, comfortable, and very secure. The free breakfast in the morning was excellent and very filling. The lobby felt like something out of a Sherlock Holmes novel! It was nearby a subway station and easy to get to from the airport.

The Hostel is very recommendable: quiet, well located (20min on food to Khao San road, Palace, and many temples) nice vintage style, street food and restaurants nearby. Possibility to book tours, I wouldn't recommend the floating market if u r looking 4 real Thailand (terribly touristic). Small breakfast, and even smaller if you need to go earlier. We had the chance to take a shower after check out and wait till midnight in the common area for our bus.

Overall, great place to stay! We stayed in the private rooms which is literally right next to Jay Fat which was awesome! The room was very clean and spacious. The free breakfast was also awesome and helped us save some money while traveling. However, in the common room we couldn't get the air to work or TV which sucked when it was rainy and we wanted to just watch some TV. Other than that, great place, would recommend to others!

Very cute! Super friendly staff! I rented a private room with onsuite across the street. The staff was super friendly and walked me over to show me how to gain entrance and get settled in my room. She also showed me how to use the dumbwaiter for my luggage, as the stairs are super sturdy, but there is no elevator. The bed was hard, but sheets were clean. Air conditioning worked well. Water pressure was good. Shower was clean, but a little older. Lots to eat close by. A GREAT choice!!

Niras Bankoc Cultural Hostel is fantastically located- just a short walk to all the major sights and restaurants/bars etc. The hostel itself is very nicely done, extremely clean and the rooms are great. The breakfast made to order was delicious and was a great start to the day and the staff were all extremely helpful whenever you needed them. Overall Niras Bankoc Cultural Hostel is the perfect place to get some cool rest from the heat and hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Would definitely return!

Excellent stay here, 24 hour reception which was perfect for my after midnight arrival. Breakfast included was a bonus. Very clean, pretty quiet for the area, great location for sights and eats. If you're solo and looking to make friends, maybe skip this one - but wonderful for classy old style retreat.

The hostel is located at a great place- walking distance from the crowd and loudness of Khao San street and a very chic locale. Good food options around, special mention of the famous pad thai restaurant Thipsimai which is right across the hostel. The hostel is very well-maintained and is quite clean. The breakfast options are delightful and the hostel crew are quite helpful and hospitable. A quiet and very cute place to stay at in Bangkok.

Stayed there for 3 days. Solo travelers go elsewhere, no ambiance. This is a hostel for people looking for a quiet time. Staff great, location not so much. Prices a little bit expensive, cleanliness + rooms + beds + bathrooms ok (please note there’s not hot water and it’s really hot if not in the room or in the lobby. Breakfast ok. All in all, enjoyed my stay but didn’t like the lack of ambiance.

First stop on a 5 month trip. Stayed in a private en-suite room, which was lovely. Great hot shower. Air con works well. Lockable cabinet for valuables. Really tasty filling breakfast options available and very friendly helpful staff. Downsides... very hard mattress (which is fine if you’re used to it, but we weren’t). Heavy traffic noise 24/7. Glass panel at the top of the door, which although looks beautiful let’s a lot of light in from the corridor.

There was a mix up with hostel worlds booking system which resulted in two rooms being booked. Niras was unwilling to work with us at all and demanded payment for both rooms before we could stay there. Due to their inability to work with us at all over this I am giving them a lower review. For safety and location they were good.

Niras Bankoc Cultural Hostel says

We have a really distinct style in the hostel that is shown in our building which is over 100 years old. It\'s been well preserved since 1869 and while the charm from the past has been maintained, renovations mean that it has fully modern facilities.
We also have the best gourmet coffee shop in Bangkok! Come and try our winning Thai roasted coffee or our special recipe of Thai milk tea. It\'s delicious.
Many of our guests are travelers seeking to see culture and the local surroundings. From our hostel, you can easily get to all the main sites in Bangkok. There are beautiful temples and museums in our neighbourhood such as the Grand Palace, the Golden Mount, Wat Po, Wat Suthat, and much more! We are just a 15 minute walk from Khaosan Road. I like to think that we\'re in the middle of a \'cultural theme park\' where guests can simply walk to all the sites and enjoy them as if they were in a theme park. Aside from the sites, we\'re surrounded by unique shops, markets, and restaurants with their own recipes. I really recommend \'Thipsamai\' for Pad Thai! We also advise guests to use the canal boats as public transport, as it's cheap fast and fun.
